Death of a Bachelor - Groomsman Jordan

Commander / EDH* Mono-Black Spirits Tribal

TheGooseManWells

Preamble: I made mono coloured decks for my Groomsmen (all at various skill levels of commander) to play against each other in the days leading up to the wedding. Great group of guys, stunned as sin and faces on em' like a boiled boot, but great guys. Naming formula will be following similar structure if you want to stay tuned.

Oh boy Jordan. You've only ever played modern. Welcome to the big leagues pal. I have crafted a simple 2 win-con deck crafted around our best mutual appreciation for dark humour. Iname, Death Aspect is your commander.

The point of your deck is very simple, either play a bunch of value creatures and beat the life totals of your opponents down, or use Iname's Ability to combo with Mortal Combat by dumping 20 spirits into your graveyard all at once. This deck also abuses the graveyard for reasons other than winning the game, so you might not need to dump all twenty spirits at once, you can find value elsewhere as well.

The point is, play at your own pace, wait for a moment to go, but don't wait too long. Putting down Mortal Combat puts pressure on your opponents and avoids discard effects if it's in your hand, and there is limited enchantment removal.

Look for synergies that exist within your colour type Crypt Ghast or graveyard mindful cards like Nighthowler so poke around this list and learn a bit about your tribal mechanics, your graveyard mechanics and some other fun stuff!

You have one jpn card due to pricing/availability Twilight's Call

Shriekmaw is great if you abuse the evoke cost, and get it back from your graveyard in some capacity. Some cards like Akuta, Born of Ash are great targets for Iname's enter the battlefield (etb) effect because there is a way to return it from the graveyard to play.

Tempt with Immortality is a great and fun recursion card after an Iname trigger. Raise Dead is classic if you need something back for cheap, but not necessarily on the battlefield.

Your deck can win, but it was made with you having not played a lot of commander in mind. The fellas shouldn't view it as too threatening, but will know it can win out of nowhere. I truly believe you and Kyle may find common ground amongst Ben and Zach's more reactive, disrupt strategy.

Seriously though you guys are the best and I wouldn't be the person I am today without you!
