Hi. cool version but you might want to consider if you want a mill deck or something else because this isn't a mill deck and Glimpse the Unthinkable only ever goes into those decks.

You could consider Countersquall if you get some more draw synergy Chasm Skulker would be a cool option with cards like Remand Serum Visions Slip Through Space

Draknar50, mill might not be the most common win condition for the deck, but the horrors do give it a lot of mill synergy which is why I GtU in there along with the milling counterspells. Definitely like the look of Slip Through Space though.

I know the deck does not quite fit into any archetype, but then I'm not expecting to win a GP with it, I find it more fun to try and come up with something more unique. I would like to try and cover any weaknesses with a sensible sideboard though which as you can see from the nonsense in there currently I am struggling with.

I guess I am going to have to bite the bullet and get the main deck built and see how it goes, I can come back to the SB later.

I get it and i appreciate the idea it sounds like a few good combos and you could do well with it. As far as sideboard is concerned dont have a lot of experience there but Echoing Truth is always a good option vs token decks

Vapor Snag or Void Snare would both be superior choices to Boomerang aswell just thought of that. The latter if u are worried about planeswalker/enchantments and the first if just creatures

Draknar50 good call on Void Snare, the extra mana on Boomerang is not worth it just to have the option to remove lands, this isn't EDH after all.

Just remembered Spreading Seas vs tron or scapeshift valakut for sideboard aswell

After looking those up they look horrible. I'm not familiar enough with the modern meta but if land based combos are not uncommon it would be good to sideboard an answer. And here I was thinking that lands were only a threat in EDH.

The combos look horrible, that is, spreading seas seems good.

Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle into Scapeshift or Primeval Titan is meta in modern

Tron with urza's lands is common aswell. And eldrazi with Cavern of Souls + Eldrazi Temple is just annoying

Spreading Seas will either take care of them all or at the very least delay them

Blood Moon is the go to option agaisnt those decks but unless you want to waste a lot of cash on a sideboard option and splash red i would just go with Spreading Seas (sorry for all the comments I keep remembering new stuff to say xD)

jon_hill987 says... #13

Yeah, the deck is expensive enough without adding blood moon... :)

Dang, that is awesome, I am going to test it now...

Thought Scour? It seems like good card advantage and a helpful mill at low cost.

jon_hill987 says... #16

Yeah, I did consider that one SynergyBuild, decided to go with Visions of Beyond because of the possibility of drawing three cards later in the game when my hand is getting light.

I don't know about that, but I would still think in modern to think about some 1 drop varients of Go for the Throat would be better, think (Vendetta, or Dismember)

jon_hill987 says... #18

SynergyBuild Yeah, I have been wondering about my removal choices, I prefer the ones that are less conditional but going down to one mana is probably better. Vendetta could potentially replace my Doom Blades

jon_hill987 This is awesome! I've been looking to breath life into my current mill deck for a while, this inspired me. If you're looking for thematically on-point cards, I run Mind Funeral and love it.

Thanks, Weenie_Roaster9000. It's not exactly competitive, but it's a fun deck in a more casual setting.

Mind Funeral does seem like a good fit, not sure what to cut for it though.

Probably no room for it but Phyrexian Obliterator is the most fun horror in game. Consuming Aberration would also be really strong with all the mill. High CMC though sadly

I did have Consuming Aberration in the deck previously, ZorrosRage. I dropped it because, like you say, the CMC is so high. Phyrexian Obliterator does seem good, but with a semi budget mana base I'm not sure I'd be able to cast it. I guess I could if I ran Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth...

I can understand that the BBBB is tough to cast. Underground River isnt a bad pain land if your ok with losing 1 life. Also Creeping Tar Pit is a lot cheaper right now. Not a horror but a fun land.

I’ve been thinking about Scheming Symmetry in mill. Once you both place the card on top of the decks, make them mill the card the fetched. If they see it coming, they will put up something they don’t want, but at least you get a 1 mana tutor. However, I think it pairs best with Thought Scour, which isn’t on your list.

That's brilliant, CaveBoy. I've not updated this deck in a while, so not looked at cards from the last couple sets for it. That definitely seems like a good fit though. Added to the maybe board until I work out what to cut.
