Deathly Visions

Standard*

Hakureioni

A pretty straight forward but effective standard deck I've been testing against friends. The basic idea is to abuse Bloodsoaked Champion's raid ability to fuel your Bloodsucker while also exploiting Reaper's ability to gain an effective card advantage and take your opponent out in the late game. Here's an overview of the main pieces of this deck's engine:

Bloodsoaked Champion: The deck's bread and butter, everything revolves around getting him into the grave and then back out onto the field to sac again. Every time he goes into the grave your board gets stronger and you get a chance to streghten your hand as well, this one card will pull off so many advantages for you each time he is sacrificed that it's almost unreal!

Bloodsucker: The game ender, get him nice and strong and you'll have an absolute monster by late game. He is likely to be a removal magnet, which works just fine because you want your opponent to waste his vital removal spells on this creature so that he has no answer to your Soul of Innistrad or Garruk. So either your opponent is forced to waste removal on a threat that can be easily brought back or save it for your bigger creatures while this bloodsucker slowly gets more and more powerful: it's a win win.

Reaper of the Wilds: My favorite card in the deck. Why? Because your opponent rarely has an answer to it at all. Hexproof means it can't be killed by most removal spells and the deathtouch with 5 toughness means your opponent won't be able to swing at you with most creatures (even siege rhino would fall in a confrontation with the reaper). Which makes her the absolute perfect defense in a very vulnerable strategy. And the best part is, every turn she generates incredible hand advantage once the engine gets going. Being able to scry multiple times per turn means you should always have the perfect answer in your hand to anything your opponent has. She is really the strongest defense this deck can have.

Rakshasa Deathdealer: This guy's inclusion here may bewilder some people, but rest assured he is very important. Why? Because he is your raid trigger. You really don't want to attack often your bloodsucker because it is vulnerable until it is properly fed and you won't always have a reaper out. But with Rakshasa you never have to worry about dying thanks to it's regenerate. You can blindly attack every turn without fear of losing board presence, and in fact activating his other ability transforms him into a 4/4 or even 6/6 creature that can force your opponent to respond and needlessly sacrifice his creatures (again fueling the reaper). If the Reaper is your perfect defense this guy is you unstoppable offense. The shield and sword synergy between the two is unreal.

The rest are self explanatory: Lots of removal spells to take out any threats to your early game since that is when you are most vulnerable. Garruk is great because he gives you more creatures to sac plus he is the perfect answer to elspeth who will be this deck's biggest weakness (which is why I also pack the 3 hero's downfall). Innistrad and Gravedigger are there to recover any Bloodsucker that may have been eliminated. And Thoughtseize + Brain Maggot are there as answers to early game threats before they hit the board, since early game is where this deck is at its weakest, they also stop those pesky elspeth players, best to weed her out before she even hits the field.

This deck is still very much a work in progress so any input would really help, I'm by no means an expert. Thanks all!
