Also, Vigor should probably just be Hardened Scales instead, maybe even Winding Constrictor.

Altar's Reap and Viscera Seer will help get Death's Shadow into your graveyard.
Also, since you do go all in on 1 creature, Blossoming Defense might be a good addition.

I don't think Hardened Scales belongs here. It is great when you put a counter on many creatures at once, because it triggers on each creature getting a counter, and it's great when you have a repeatable effect with +1/+1 counters. But here you put a pile of counters on something in one go, and therefore only triggering Hardened Scales once, which isn't really enough to need it in your deck.
Mulch seems to fit this deck pretty well. Could take the place of one or two Jarad's Order, as they are 4 cmc spells, and that's not something you want too much of.
Why do you want to move counters around so much? You spend 6 cards on that particular thing, and if you don't get to have a graveyard (GY-hate is common on modern sideboards), you don't get to scavenge, and won't have +1/+1 counters... Some removal would be better, I think - like Fatal Push.

xyr0s - you make a great point, the deck has evolved a lot today so some remnants of the older focus were still left. I think adding 2 more Abrupt Decays and taking away the excess counter shifts is a great idea. I also added a few Mulches to the deck, which was a great idea and addition. Thank you for the constructive feedback.

Your deck is BG - no splashes or anything. As far as I can tell, at least. So why the Abundant Growths? They don't give more mana, they just fix colors, and cantrip a card... Not really all that useful in this deck. No cards are loaded in the GY, they don't find creatures... no real synergy actually.
Also, you could exchange Crowned Ceratok for Groundbreaker. The argument is, that the ceratok requires some setup to work, and relies on other cards, more or less always (a 4/3 at 4 mana, is not really big enough to be an end-the-game threat). Groundbreaker has higher power (and therefore higher value as scavenging material) for lower mana. It also has trample built in, and with 4 mana and Varolz, the Scar-Striped on the table, you can win the game (play groundbreaker, scavenge Death's Shadow, hit for 19 trample). Not that you will necessarily be able to, but any opponent who has seen you do this trick once, will have to keep mana and cards back for blocking, countering and/or removal.
I'm not sure Altar's Reap works the way you think it does, at least not on an early game Death's Shadow. If you have too much life, it simply doesn't stay long enough in play, for you to play another effect. And you have no other creature, that you would actually like to sacrifice.

xyr0s - hey, I am trying to keep some draw card mechanics in the deck that are cheap cards. The Abundant Growth is an early game mama fixer that lets you draw a card. The Altar's Reap is mid-game draw card, and the Bioshift lets me sac a creature without losing any counters that might be on it. I think you have a great point with the Groundbreaker being both an asset on the board and for Scavenge though. The only thing I don't want to sacrifice is having the ability to draw cards with those other two cards, if you have any suggestion on how to change those out but keep that I am definitely willing to try it out. As of right now this is one of the decks I am actually playing, alongside the others linked in the description.

xyr0s - another set of creatures I have been looking at is Skylasher or Thrun, the Last Troll. Being able to stack the counters on a hexproof character could make a difference.
May 4, 2017 1:30 p.m.
Isn't Mulch, Jarad's Orders, and Grisly Salvage a way to get card advantage, and at the same time putting combo-pieces in the GY? They are card-neutral, which Altar's Reap also is (the latter draws you two cards, in exchange for a creature and itself = 2 for 2), but they give you a lot better selection as they dig deeper. I think Elvish Visionary is better than Abundant Growth - it also draws a card, but it can block early attackers, be sac'ed to Altar's Reap or varolz, and discarded to Lotleth Troll.
For a two-coloured deck, you don't really need manafixing, when you play the lands you do. Skylasher is really a sideboard-card, and not even a good one at that. It doesn't have hexproof, it just has "protection from blue, advanced". Thrun is solid, though.
Another card to consider could be Rite of Consumption. It makes the deck even more combo-like. It should be boarded out against anything with counterspells (same as Altar's Reap, but otherwise it's good.

I think you should add Phyrexian Dreadnought it cn be as useful as Death's Shadow
May 31, 2017 2:03 a.m.
plus Predator's Strike is better than Larger Than Life. Phyrexian Dreadnought

Predator's Strike - two cost, gives +3/3 and trample
Larger Than Life - two cost, gives +4/4 and trample
I think I'm missing something.
May 31, 2017 9:42 a.m.
Instant speed. That's a rather significant difference. I think it's worth the slightly smaller bonus, as you can use it in other ways then (Predator's Strike can essentially counter a lightning bolt, which Larger Than Life can't).
May 31, 2017 1:46 p.m.
Xyr0s is right plus you can flash in trample after blockers at declared and most people would block with weak creatures if they knee it did not have trample.

That's what I was missing haha. I was half asleep when I read it at first. Instant speed is a huge bonus.
May 31, 2017 10:13 p.m.
Although Phyrexian Dreadnought is only a 12/12, it basically kills itself plus when you have Varolz, the Scar-Striped out it only cost 1 mana of any color to scavenge.

I did add Mire Boa to the deck though. If the conditions are right, Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth can pair with it and give the Boa Swampwalk. It also can be regenerated. It's a great pair for the tokens that Death's Shadow can produce.

I Hunted Horror or Sheltering Ancient could replace Force of Savagery. They are less mana.

Those are pretty good suggestions, I liked Force of Savagery because it can be killed just by playing it if I get stuck with it in my hand. Those other two are basically useless unless they are self-milled.

Not true you do not have to pay Sheltering Ancient Cumulative upkeep cost.
