I thought Hunted Horror would be better than Force of Savagery because of not only is it cheaper to scavenge, but if you are playing with multiple players you can use it to give the token to a losing player and use it. besides Grisly Salvage, Mulch, and Lotleth Troll; can get it into your grave.

I'm not really playing against multiple opponents with this specific deck at the moment, but it would be interesting in a commander deck that I have.

I appreciate it too, it's really hard to change things that are working in the deck. Some of the suggestions have been really good though.

Force of Savagery was on the deck list, but Sheltering Ancient took its place for multiple reasons. Ancient can enter and block, be sacrificed by not paying its cumulative upkeep, and cost less to Scavenge.

mire boa seems bad. if you want a cheap regenerate beater, experiment one seems better. swampwalk is probably relevant reasonably often, but is still probably not good enough. also, i suggest rotting rats. the multi sided discard can work to your advantage, and it can unearth.

Is Satyr Wayfinder better than Mulch here? Considering it's a blocker and can be scavenged, the only downside to playing it instead is only getting rather than multiple.

In some ways, yes. But you can only return one land with it, which might end up hurting you.

A friend of mine played a similar deck ones. He used cards like Eater of Days and Hunted Horror for scavenge, but also played a few Torpor Orb in order to play those cards if needed, without having their downsides.

Those are okay additions/ substitutions, similar cards are used in this deck for that purpose.

Nice deck you got here! You don't really have any issues, so I'll upvote, and do my best to help.
Having 2 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth may not be necessary. Although it is very good with Mire Boa, squeezing in a copy of Evil Presence into your sideboard can be better, as you can enchant opponent lands (for example, an Urza's Tower) and turn that into a swamp (thus losing all of it's other abilities and types). With 2 Urborgs, however, you could be risking the legend rule and being forced to lose your lands.
is the trample from Predator's Strike really that important? almost all your creatures that you plan to be attacking with already have some evasion, and using Become Immense (since you have no more use for the instants and sorceries you mill) could help you swing for more damage.
June 4, 2017 2:41 p.m.
Delve is a terrible idea emrakulinsmugglers not only would it get rid of the cards needed to scavenge, and if your opponent has a quick burn Predator's Strike can stop it. plus if you don't get any creatures with trample you can use Predator's Strike on Varolz, the Scar-Striped and attack with just him.

Sorry if this comes off as rude to you, but delve does not get rid of the cards needed to scavenge. In fact, it does nothing to put cards into your graveyard , and only makes use of the cards that were dumped into the yard with spells like Mulch, Grisly Salvage, and other instants / sorceries that were used up and sent to the graveyard over the course of the game.
Blossoming Defense and Vines of Vastwood are both better at stopping a burn spell as compared to Predator's Strike. Because of how this deck can easily get extra cards in the yard, casting Become Immense cheaply should be fairly consistent, and has been so far in my testing. The main usefulness of Predator's Strike is that it gives trample, and in most cases, the only creatures you'll be casting is Death's Shadow and Varolz, the Scar-Striped.
hello there!
I have some additional suggestions for your deck. perhaps moving the Birds of Paradise over into your mainboard? currently, your mainboard 1 ofs are not suitable to be played on turn 1 (pump, or bioshift). Birds of Paradise helps you out, as well as being a flyer you can pump up later on. I really recommend this, as while I was testing, every round with a good hand would go something like this. turn 1 either death shadow or nothing, turn 2 mulch or grisly salvage, turn 3 varolz. If you had birds of paradise included, you could do something like this. turn 1 birds, turn 2 grisly salvage and death's shadow, turn 3 varaolz and put 13 counters on birds, turn 4 use some removal some pump, and swing for lethal. Although your deck can already win on turn 4, keeping Birds of Paradise in the mainboard to start with helps out with more consistent wins. Mire Boa and Skylasher are great cards, but on turn 2, your deck generally needs to be casting a mulch or a grisly salvage (provided you didn't cast a death shadow on turn 1).

emrakulinsmugglers - how is this most recent change? I took your advice and I think it will be more efficient than before.
June 5, 2017 3:10 a.m.
emrakulinsmugglers you bring up a good point the only reason I ever suggested Predator's Strike is because PickleNutz had Larger Than Life which is useless compared to Predator's Strike. Become Immense would be better in this situation. But PickleNutz I don't understand why you are so fixated on Mire Boa its only useful if you opponent is running a black deck or you miraculously get Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. Tormented Soul would be be better, sure it can't block but it is a 1 drop and is unblockable.

personally, I think Mire Boa is a great creature for your sideboard, but it depends on your meta. If you know you will most likely face a deck running some amount of swamps, then mire boa should be mainboard.

Piglord98 - There is multiple reasons why I really like Mire Boa. I recently added in Evil Presence to the deck, which can obviously be sideboards if I am playing a black deck, but it gives me the chance to initiate Swampwalk effects for Mire Boa alongside Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. The next reason, Mire Boa can be regenerated, which is important for this deck. For it can be regenerated, and for , Lotleth Troll can be regenerated. Having Creatures with that ability really helps keep the counters provided from Scavenge stay alive. Tormented Soul is a good card, but for right now I believe Mire Boa is one of my staples in the deck.

you should add Withstand Death, maybe get rid of some hexproof cards.

emrakulinsmugglers - I easily get fixated with certain cards, it's usually Elves, right now it's Mire Boa though. He offers utility even outside of Swampwalk with his ability to regenerate.

Piglord98 - Indestructible might be a pretty decent strategy, especially when it is cast as an instant. The difference here though would be that the other cards are providing a buff, as well as hexproof. That is definitely an idea to play around with in play-testing though.

I suppose that is true, of the two, it is definitely worth considering.
