Nim Deathmantle seems good if you want to profit from creatures dying.

Fleshbag Marauder, Merciless Executioner, and Slum Reaper are also fun cards.

ibstudent2200 Thank you for the suggestion of Nim Deathmantle, and I will probably add a Fleshbag Marauder and not the other two because one seems to be enough to add. NecroPony do you agree or should I have two?

Add all three. REMOVAL

I'd actually consider playing Slum Reaper over the others (unless you find the 1 mana is relevant). Power matters in Gisa decks, and sacrificing the creature with its ETB on the stack leaves you with 3 Zombie tokens and everyone else down a creature.

It's also worth noting that all three creatures are hilarious with Nim Deathmantle. Paying mana to make opponents sacrifice creatures is solid.

NecroPony, I was thinking about adding Liliana, Heretical Healer  Flip to the deck, does that seem like it could have synergy?

I run Liliana, Heretical Healer  Flip in my sac/reanimate deck, she pretty much synergizes all around, for her +2 you just pitch a creature you can later reanimate either with her or another spell her -X is great to recur whatever and her ult pretty much wins games if not heavily turned to your favor, especially if you follow up with a boardwipe

If you have enough time to ult a planeswalker, you either have Doubling Season, or you are so far ahead that you were likely to win even without the ult. Because of this, it's generally incorrect to include the ult when evaluating a planeswalker (exceptions include planeswalkers who can ult immediately). This is even more true in multiplayer formats.

That said, Liliana, Heretical Healer  Flip isn't a bad card. As I see it, she's as good as her -X ability is in a given deck. In most cases, you should be able to flip Liliana during your turn, so you'll be able to use her -X immediately to get any creature with CMC 3 or less. In your list, you'll probably be satisfied if you return Vampire Hexmage, Burnished Hart, Flesh Carver, or Stronghold Assassin. Unfortunately, 4 targets is too low to be consistent in 100-card singleton. However, I think it's semi-reasonable to assume that you can get her to 5 loyalty without drawing too much hate. So your list of reasonable targets will often include Smothering Abomination, Crypt Ghast, Bloodgift Demon, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel. I don't think it's likely that Liliana will be able to reach above 5 loyalty without provoking your opponents into attacking you, so your pool of targets is 8 creatures. When I want to make sure I see at least one card from a subset of my deck in each game (or each game where I have another specific card), I try to set the threshold for that subset at 10-12 cards (depending on my access to card draw and tutors in that deck). In other words, if you want to make sure you have at least one good target for Liliana's -X ability, you should have at least 10-12 creatures in your deck with CMC 5 or less.

tl;dr You need more cheap dudes* before Liliana, Heretical Healer is worth playing.

*Bone Shredder, Nekrataal, Shadowborn Demon, Gilt-Leaf Winnower, Merciless Executioner, Slum Reaper, Big Game Hunter, Mindslicer, Disciple of Bolas, Fleshbag Marauder, and Shriekmaw are all fine cards.

I am biased all over the place because I run Liliana as my general. I can't gauge her as one of the 99 but I live by the philosophy that when evaluating a plansewalker, you ignore the ult because as a general rule you will not ult.

For the time being, probably going to replace Pestilence Demon with Abhorrent Overlord

NecroPony, I'm planning a Bottomless Vault. Your opinion?

November 18, 2015 1:47 p.m.

ibstudent2200 says... #13

As far as Bottomless Vault goes, I prefer Mage-Ring Network or Subterranean Hangar. Choosing whether to charge or discharge counters at your opponent's end step is way better than being forced to choose during your upkeep.

I plan to r place Stronghold Assassin with Puppeteer Clique. NecroPony, thoughts?

Good idea. Looking more and more like my version.

NecroPony, well I did learn to play mono black from you.

November 19, 2015 10:50 a.m.

NecroPony, what do you think about Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder

November 19, 2015 11:18 a.m.

Lanzo493 says... #18

I never have liked Endrek that much, but in decks that like lots of sacrifice outlets he's pretty strong. I am suggesting you put in Grafted Wargear. For you get an extra 3 zombies on anything Gisa sacrifices. I think you can remove AEther Snap because that card will mostly likely hurt you more than anyone else, unless you have some heavy token or planeswalker decks in your meta.

November 19, 2015 12:16 p.m.

Lanzo493, thanks for the imput, I'll probably do that so I can overall lower the Average CMC and since AEther Snap is shooting the deck in the foot anyways.

Hello! I'm mostly a black mage when it comes to Magic and my first ever deck is a Gisa deck! I've looked at your deck and I can't really tell if you're trying to work the tribal or sacrificial side of the deck. Try checking out my There Are Zombies On Your Lawn! and Darkness Has Fallen decks! They are both Ghoulcaller Gisa decks. I think you might benefit and decide what you might want to put in yours if you look at them!

November 19, 2015 1:47 p.m.

Darkleus31, I am honestly trying to work more towards the sacrificial side, and not tribal. If it seems tribal at all, it might just be a coincidence.

Also, I would take out Barren Moor and replace it with Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx and Polluted Mire and replace that with a Magus of the Coffers for more mana.

I would also take out your Phyrexian Gargantua and definitely replace that with an Indulgent Tormentor.

And replacing your Thornbite Staff with a Deathrender is a no-brainer because being able to cast something for free when you sac it with Gisa is really good because it saves mana.

Since you already have an Endless Ranks of the Dead in this deck, I would replace your AEther Snap with an Army of the Damned to really get that enchantment going!

Oh, and I would replace that Vampire Hexmage and put in a Filth instead since you already have an Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth!

These are just some suggestions and I hope you take them into consideration.

Darkleus31 says... #23

Well if you are working more along the sacrificial side of Gisa then I would definitely check out my two Gisa decks I mentioned!

Phyrexian Soulgorger and Barbed Battlegear really help get a lot of zombies out.

Dude. You have got to keep thornbite staff
