Deceitful Mono-Green Ramp

Standard Colorless Combo Mono-Green Ramp

This is a deck I've been working on for a while since discovering the hilarious Conduit of Ruin + Deceiver of Form combo. After my failed attempts at creating a more token based version I took inspiration from woopachengi and his ramp focused model.

The combo at first glance can seem almost impossible, requiring several cards for it to work consistently but the large number of tutor type effects within the deck can result in the combo being pulled off almost every game.

It may not be the most competitive or consistent deck but it sure is a lot of fun. I would love to hear all suggestions on how to improve the deck, especially in regards to the sideboard. I feel Nissa, Voice of Zendikar could be a great fit with her token generation. As well as Eldrazi Devastator and Breaker of Armies helping in match-ups where opponents go wide.

Game Plan

The first few turns you want to focus on ramping and getting creatures down ready to be copied. Once you hit 7 mana, it's c-c-c-combo time.

Play Deceiver of Form and hope he lives til next turn.

Then play Conduit of Ruin and search for either Mage-Ring Responder or Bane of Bala Ged. Place it on top of your deck.

Enter combat and reveal either creature. Jaddi Offshoot and Hedron Crawler transform into 7 power monsters swinging for lethal while exiling or destroying your opponents board.

If that doesn't win the game, Ulamog is just around the corner.

Cards

Deceiver of Form - The hero of the deck. Once you have him in hand and 7 mana you're good to go. Unfortunately you can't copy Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger or any other Legendary Creature as only one can be on the field at a time.

Conduit of Ruin - Alters the Deceiver of Form's ability from random chance to certain victory. After the combo it remains a valuable creature providing additional ramp and a decent body.

Mage-Ring Responder - Not the best card on his own but a great fit in this deck. The copies of this card clear the opponents creatures making way for the 21+ points of damage. Unfortunately you draw him he is essentially a dead card.

Bane of Bala Ged - Mage-Ring Responder's partner in crime. This guy forces your opponent to exile a bunch of his permanents. Not as sure a victory, but in certain situations can prove stronger than his buddy.

From Beyond - After generating some tokens for ramp or bodies for Deceiver of Form, you can sac it to pull your missing combo pieces.

Sanctum of Ugin - Combos well with Deciever of Form, allowing you to pull Conduit and play on curve.

Pulse of Murasa - If someone is rude and kills your Deciever of Form, this allows you to pull him back and have another shot. Also combos really well with Jaddi Offshoot in aggressive matchups, pulling back a defender and gaining 6 life.

This is the part of the deck I am stuggling most with. Having not playtested the deck much other than one FNM and some casual games I'm not sure of all its weaknesses yet.

Display of Dominance - This card is you're only hope in control matchups. Having your Deceiver destroyed or countered through spells seriously hurts the deck.

Reality Smasher - For the slower/mirror match-ups like ramp where early pressure is needed.

Spatial Contortion, Titan's Presence & Warping Wail - Just some control that I thought would probably come in handy.

Kozilek, the Great Distortion & Void Winnower - Alternate finishers. Aren't completely sure of these guys being in here but they're big and bad.

Updates Add

Took the deck to FNM two weeks ago and was pretty happy with my results. I went 2-2, losing both games to control match-ups. This was my second time at FNM.

Round 1 - U/B Dragon Control (1-2) - Screwed up the combo in game 3 which cost me the win. Lost game 1 after Ulamog was stole with Silumgar.

Round 2 - Molten Vortex (2-0) - Creatures were too big to deal with, fun deck to play against though.

Round 3 - Mono-red Eldrazi (2-0) - Got the combo off both games and won convincingly. Was a lot of fun

Round 4 - Abzan Control (0-2) - Deceiver of Form copped a beating. Between crackling doom, murderous cut and ruinous path I couldn't keep him on the board. Pulse of Murasa was almost enough steal one game.
