Basically, the plan is to play Vampires. But, you already know that. You also probably know how madness vampires work, so I'll point out what makes my deck different from the norm. It's quite different.
First off, I see that lots of Vampire players peter out after they empty their hand, or they overcommit into a Radiant Flames/Kozilek's Return/Fumigate/Planar Outburst and lose. These are probably the main reasons why Vampires are not a dominant force in the format. They're certainly kill fast enough, and my build is fairly consistent. Unless you're looking to close a game out in the next turn, try and keep a madness outlet in hand with a bit more gas so that you don't get blown out. Having the tech Macabre Waltz in hand lets you overcommit and makes a good hand into an absurd one for that reason.
Other decks run the lords, but they're bad. Drana, Liberator of Malakir and Olivia, Mobilized for War are bad. Olivia was really bad in testing. She doesn't have madness, and doesn't enable it very well. By the time you get the mana to hard cast her and have a madness play open, most of your creatures have already entered and there are better cards than a 3/3 flying body without madness for 3. She still dies to Grasp of Darkness, so I don't see much of a point. Because of that, I feel that there are much better cards for three madness, like Incorrigible Youths, Bloodmad Vampire, or Twins of Maurer Estate. It could eat removal that would've been targeted at a madness outlet, but that's about all they end up being good for. Drana is okay, but doesn't at all synergise with what we try to do. She's a vampire, but that's it. She's good for midrange. We are not midrange. Case closed.
You may recognize my lack of one-drops. That's because I don't think there are any one-drops impactful enough to justify running. Insolent Neonate is bad, Indulgent Aristocrat doesn't at all fit, and Falkenrath Gorger is okay as a one-drop two power creature, but bad in that it has to be built around, which would make our hands less consistent and actually slows us down.
So, here's my deck. It's still changing unlike the format, but this is a really stable build. It's not really a budget build either, this is actually probably the best Vampire deck in standard. If you really want to, take out the Olivia's Bloodsworns for Kalitas, Traitor of Ghets. I don't really see a need tough, because it doesn't actually make the deck that much better. Suggestions are welcome. Take it and experiment, but make sure of course you know the reasons why you're making substitutions and how it affects the deck as a whole. I did a lot of math on the ratios. It's really budget, and a good starting point in Standard. Have fun.
