i said keranos not to kill your opponents with the bolts, i said to kill your opponents creatures with the bolts! i really like thought reflection, but i think its too slow for the deck, keranos will grant you a 2nd draw for gavi, or a bolt to kill someones creature. of course that is your deck and you can build it however you want! another recomendation is perplexing chimera, similar to gilded drake but works with spells, can be very usefull. and the last one, i highly recomend sevine reclamation instead of sun titan, it is faster and do the same thing!

Fernah14: That makes sense. I like your suggestions and will look into testing them out. Cheers!

Love your decklist, nice work!

Question about Abandoned Sarcophagus: The exile effect will only trigger on cards that are put into the graveyard AFTER you played Abandoned Sarcophagus and will ONLY affect cards hitting the graveyard that aren't put there using the cycling ability, am I understanding this correctly?

I consider this very powerful in lategame, because the way I understand it, this enables me to replay any cycling card in my graveyard. Isn't this efffect comparable to cards like Underworld Breach or Snapcaster Mage, which are considered powerful?

pryrates: The problem with sarcophagus is that it doesn't gel well with my overall cycling strategy. I want to have cards constantly in my hand for gas but sarcophagus doesn't let me cycle from the yard and doesn't even let me do it for cycling lands. I'm looking for more Bag of Holding effects where I can get all of my cyclers back to hand and fire them off again.

Quick question. With all of the card draw, is there a reason to not include Reliquary Tower?

May 12, 2020 8:41 a.m.

Enral says... #6

Darty17: The reason is because my manabase is already kinda slow/bad with all of the tapped cycle lands (I might rethink it later) and I need all of the color fixing possible. I can get infinite handsize with Thought Vessel which is easily tutorable with Muddle the Mixture/Long-Term Plans.

The notable exclusions section really helped me with focusing on the direction i'm trying to take with this commander +1

Enral If budget is a problem, should you exclude Gilded Drake for Perplexing Chimera ?

May 17, 2020 1:55 a.m.

Enral says... #9

stcsteven97: That's definitely a good budget replacement. I would also consider Agent of Treachery as another great option.

Enral Wow.. I never knew that Solemnity can be that clunky in the deck itself, and such card can hinder the main flow of the deck._.

Enral says... #11

stcsteven97: I never felt happy drawing Solemnity tbh. It always felt low impact and doesn't really synergize with the deck much other than the combo with Decree of Silence which needs a ton of mana to assemble. I always wish to have another cycler or a higher impact card in its place. Decree of Silence serves a better purpose as a free recurable protection piece with Hall of Heliod's Generosity in my opinion.

Hey I stumbled apron this deck before your first update. Do you think when you update you can tell us what you cut out and what you replace it with? Even if it’s for just small instant speed cards that have cycling? I just want to know as I try to decide what I can have as replacement budget versions if some of the cards you cut out fit with my play style better.

DonFluffles: It's not really logistically feasible for me to keep track of all of the minor changes I make, but I do update on the overall higher impact updates. Basically I've pivoted into a more cycling heavy direction and updated my primer to reflect that. Hopefully that helps somewhat.

Enral I guess that’s understandable. I just really like your deck and the commander and I just wanted to try to keep up with how you are changing the game plan. Really like the deck though! Would you ever consider using cards like mulldrifter or cloudblazer as includes or do they take away too much of the cycling?

DonFluffles: Glad you like the deck. I will be updating the primer according to the changes I've made to the deck so hopefully it will be easy to follow. I'm trying not to lean into the ETB theme because my commander isn't as reliable as Zur in tutoring out an astral slide/astral drift so I'm basically sticking to the cycling/tempo theme which has been working great so far from testing. However, if the ETB theme speaks to you for sure try it!

Enral, appreciate sharing your deck, nice work!

Just a small concern, how do you intend to go infinte on this second explained combo?

"If Thassa's Oracle is exiled, we have another infinite line we can demonstrate with Scholar of the Ages + Turnabout + Astral Slide/Astral Drift/Escape Protocol + Solar Blast (as a cycler) using Elixir of Immortality to reset the loop infinite times for infinite life, mana (with Turnabout), and damage to win"

Here Astral Drift/Astral Slide will bring you back the Scholar of the Ages and its trigger just at the end of your turn, if you remove it from the game again (after its return, at the same endstep), it will be brought back only at the beginning of the next end step (opponent's one), in this case this combo would only work with Escape Protocol. Did you copy and paste the three blink engines meaning just Escape Protocol for this case or did I miss something on this engine? Thanks!

WW13 You're right. Thanks for catching that. Fixed!

Bro, I love this deck. I am buying almost all the cards I need, except the gilded drake and mana crypt for financial reasons. Do you suggest some cards as substitutes? I am using Google Translate and my English may not be as good as it should be

May 22, 2020 4:06 p.m.

Enral says... #19

Notherwizard: Hi, you can replace drake with Agent of Treachery and crypt with Lotus Petal.

redbarron12 says... #20

Try using Perplexing Chimera. Then you can soft lock people out with Astral Drift/Astral Slide

Enral says... #21

redbarron12: Perplexing Chimera is actually a pretty good card in this deck worth testing out. Good suggestion!

Notherwizard says... #22

Why don't you use Underworld Breach?

May 25, 2020 9:03 a.m.

Enral says... #23

Notherwizard: I'm not a fan of that card in this deck unless I'm playing the competitive version using LED, wheels, and brainfreeze.

Notherwizard says... #24

Oh ok, I am copying this deck to play it competitively in multi. Thanks for the work that you are doing

I really like this deck and was coming up with a similar brew, the thing about a deck like this is that Escape Protocol, Astral Slide and Astral Drift, and New Perspectives are more so your commander than what you have in the command zone. I see that you are using tutors to get over this hurdle, but I was wondering if you had considered any of the more Gavi Unique tutors as I would like to know your opinion on them. Long-Term Plans is a tutor that is usually pretty slow, but given you can draw that many cards in one rotation around the table, is it worth it? Another one is I considered was Drift of Phantasms for a 3 drop transmute spell. Library of Lat-Nam lacks Mana efficiency, but given this deck needs card draw and tutors, could it be worth it? Finally Archmage Ascension is a hard to get off the ground ultimate tutor but with Gavi already trying to do it's requirement, I think it may also be worth consideration.

I love this deck and appreciate any input on my suggestions. I look forward to seeing how you adjust it in the future.
