all i can think of to replace pemmin's aura are Crab Umbra , Vigean Graftmage , and Thassa's Ire . however, their activation costs are more than one and the graftmage has a little condition.

Stonga thanks! I think Crab Umbra would be the best option out of those three. With it you would need three extra defenders though. Most likely if I will build this deck I will go with it so this would be modern.

Asher18 read Axebane Guardian closely. I think you missed something.

Your win con seems well thought out but why run Cancel when there's Dissolve ?

TheDude173, good point. Originally I had Counterspell s and I just added some countering. For some reason I didn't think of Dissolve which is obviously a better option.

Asher18, as TheDude173 already stated, Axebane Guardian can produce any color. That is also mentioned in the description off this deck. As much as I like Gods, there is no real need for Kruphix, God of Horizons . Normally if I had 5 manas to use, this deck would already have won.

Maybe some Kiora's Follower s?

Aefinn says... #12

There just isn't room for them. Thanks for all the suggestions though.

UrbanAnathema, nice one. The biggest problem I have with that is the price tag though :) But thanks, because of that I now know about Bloom Tender that is a definitely a great addition to this deck. Now I just have to find right balance with the creatures with defender.

Okay, managed to get rid of Green Sun's Zenith : Replaced it with Fauna Shaman . In a way it is even better because with it I can fetch Hydras too if needed.

Well you are def gonna wanna run Drift of Phantasms . Its not only a defender but allowed you to tutor for all of your combo pieces.

Thanks, UrbanAnathema. I don't know how I missed that! That's perfect.

Sorry if i'm missing something, but surely the Bloom Tender + Freed from the Real combo only produces infinite green mana, as tapping the Bloom Tender gives 1 green + 1 blue mana each time, and then you use that blue mana to untap using the Freed from the Real , leaving only excess green? Not saying that infinite green is bad, but when I was play testing and got that going on turn 3, i couldn't use it to cast dissolve?

Aefinn says... #19

Miketsw, ah. Very good point. I think I should try to find a modern counterspell that needs max 1 blue mana.

Thoughtbind - on Turn 3 they are unlikely to cast anything with too high a CMC. Spellblast - you will always be able to get whatever X you want. Syncopate - again nice big X available to you. Spell Burst - as for Spellblast but you can buy it back as well.

Miketsw says... #21

Sorry, it should be Spell Blast .

September 8, 2014 11 a.m.

Aefinn says... #23

Yeah, I took a look on them too and though that Syncopate and Condescend would be the best options for this.

September 8, 2014 11:03 a.m.

Aefinn says... #24

Oh, Spell Burst would be even more amazing. Having one would basically mean infinite counter spells too.

September 8, 2014 11:13 a.m.

Miketsw says... #25

Yeah, everyone loves having to face infinite counter spells, in fact with infinite mana, the only way they can ever play a card again, is if it is un-counterable or they counter it the first time.

Also I know you said you were sticking to basic lands but I feel a couple of the cheaper dual lands or fetch lands (the ones that make the fetched land come into play tapped) would be okay, as you have no turn 1 plays. For this I would probably swap out islands for them, as it is really important to have your initial forests to begin the mana surge.
