Modern deck needs a modern land base buddy. Maybe Blue Sun's Zenith would be good? Gives you draw powah to help out, also can be used to just kill someone by making them draw their deck. Dig Through Time Finds you stuff for combos

kiy251 you would think so but this deck really doesn't. This convo has been done already multiple times in previous comments. Main word being budget.

I have played some time with this deck now and seriously this is one of the decks that has least problem with mana.

Fun deck, but wouldn't having a hasted hydra such as Mistcutter Hydra be more effective than Primordial Hydra?

GoofyFoot, I actually had Mistcutter Hydra before but I think trample trumps over haste. Most of the time there isn't even need for hydras at all. At this point Helix Pinnacle has won most of the games for me.

Actually changed 4x Primordial Hydra for 4x Wurmcalling. Much more value out of infinite mana thanks to buyback (infinite infinite/infinite tokens).

Another thing you could do for a winning play is change out some creatures for a couple of doorkeepers. Then you can use the freed from the real + axebane guardian combo for a mill-fest win.

Fluffybunnysyndrome thanks for the suggestion. Don't think that would work so well. It would need too many cards for the actual mil-fest to happen (Doorkeeper, Axebane Guardian and TWO Freed from the Reals) when with any other wincon I have here all I need is Axebane Guardian, Freed from the Real and one of the wincon cards by itself. So having Doorkeeper would actually make this deck slower.

My first comment was just a suggestion and I believe that it would be a more viable option for starter or more casual players. I saw your response and no hate intended but I don't follow your logic. Where would you use the second freed from the real if you were using the doorkeeper change? In my mind you use the axebane guardian + freed from the real infinite mana loop to feed the doorkeepers. Though it may take longer( a couple turns) for the opponents deck to run dry than to use your other wincons but I still believe it is a viable option. No hate intended.

Fluffybunnysyndrome, the second one would be for Doorkeeper itself of course, allowing infinite mill. Otherwise it would be too slow. It would be a solid idea for a completely new deck for sure. There are other mill defender combos too to work with and if you're not going to use Freed from the Real on Doorkeeper, there isn't even that big need for it on Axebane Guardian either. I just can't see the reasoning having it in this deck. What would you even take out for it?

Also, I mostly play casual and I don't see why this wouldn't work for starter and casual. It's not like this deck is too expensive nor hard to grasp.

If you were to use the doorkeeper change I would probably take out the bloom tenders. Although they do work very well with the deck they are quite expensive compared to the rest of the deck. Plus if you couldn't get your hands on the helix pinnacles, another kind of expensive card, the doorkeepers would be a good solution for another wincon. Also another card that may or may not work would be the red creature vent sentinels, though not perfect for the deck you could use the infinite mana loop and freed from the reals over and over again to do considerable damage.

Fluffybunnysyndrome yeah, but I already own this deck. Changing cards to cheaper no-so-well-working ones doesn't make sense.

Played today. Sylvan Caryatid were great addition to this deck! Played multiplayer (4 players) for 2 match with this deck. I won both in t4.

That's awesome glad to hear it works cause I'm in the process of building a deck based off of this one. I'm just pointing out things that i thought might be a good addition, like the vent sentinels, or less expensive for people who don't want to spend as much money,or whatever, for a deck that still works and is fun to use. It's a great deck and I'm super exited to try it out!

great deck!! first of of all you want all of this pact of negation instead of Muddle the Mixture because you will only counter if you this counter will win you the game.for example: someone counters one of your win conditions (the actual ones, not the combo) so you want to counter the counter - that instantly wins you the game.another example: you cast Freed from the Real, your opponent counters it and is tapped out, you have your win condition in you hand, so you counter the counter because you know you will win THIS turn if you do.you will never have to pay the cost of pact of negation because you will play the turn you'll win :)

i looked at your win conditions, for two (8/12) of them you have to wait to next turn after you cast them to actually win, so i think that you either need to put cars that give you an extra turn, or (this is the better option i think) get some win conditions that win the turn you cast them :)

  • Exsanguinate is great, but if you find a good win condition that's more your color i think it's better :)

Darth_Pro thanks for commenting! Pacts are on maybe board only because the price tag on them. Muddle the Mixture works on this deck very well because only thing I'm really worried is removal. This said, the negative aspect of course is the fact that you need for it instead of . Maybe in the future I'll manage to get pacts.

The fact that some of the wincons take that extra turn hasn't been that big of a problem. You either have a board full of wurms to protect you or you win with Helix Pinnacle and then you can use all the defenders to protect you (because they don't matter anymore after Helix Pinnacle has the counters). I have gone with these options simply because they all work really, really well in multiplayer scenarios too. If you play 1v1 you coil go with any of the cost "deal damage to player" cards.
