Now I love Milling and when I saw
Doorkeeper
I just knew I had to build a deck around him. Originally it was very mono blue and draw heavy and also worked to mill via draw acceleration too, but it was a very weak deck and didn't really do much of anything I wanted it to.
I then had a thought of "What if I gave them all deathtouch?" and it seemed to fit the deck a lot better then draw acceleration. After all I wanted them to not attack me and while Defender are good for blocking attacks I wanted something a little more Dangerous than Propaganda.
I have yet to really play this against a creature heavy deck as that is where this will really shine. It does run a bit on the slow side, but it's more of a follower than a leader in a match.
Now you'll pretty much want to get Defenders out ASAP. The star of the show being
Doorkeeper
as he is the main purpose of this deck. You'll mostly not want to block with him, but rather use his milling ability.
Guard Gomazoa
and
Fog Bank
are honestly the best.
Fog Bank
can't really deathtouch anything, but it doesn't matter as it doesn't die to combat damage.
Guard Gomazoa
is better due to the fact that it can deathtouch and not die to combat damage.
Hover Barrier
is good against any flyers, and if it is going against a super flying heavy deck to the point where having 12 potential flyers isn't going to cut it, I'm sure you can replace either
Wall of Frost
or
Wall of Bone
with
Wall of Air
. If for playing against another slower deck, you can always Ramp things to move faster with
Returned Phalanx
and kinda force them to do something about him instead of
Doorkeeper
.
As you can tell there isn't a lot of thing that permanently give them Deathtouch, and there is a decent amount that give it temporarily. Mainly because the temp ways of getting deathtouch is faster and good at giving your opponent a surprise when they attack for the first time, or attack with a creature you just don't want to exist anymore.
