Modern Izzet Flashback.
Our general strategy is to slowly build our mana while eliminating threats, and then to crush our opponents under a flurry of Past in Flames-brand recursion.
Char
- It's a powerful burn spell. However, because most of our spells are going to be cast several times, this hurts us to much to play 4.
Desperate Ravings- The does it all. Cantrips, allows me to dump some stuff I don't need, or it can dump some flashback spells. Perfect for this deck, I'm gonna play 4.
Secrets of the Dead- This is GREAT card advantage. Let's make this clear. People are wary of investment, i.e. by playing a Lightning Bolt or a Shock they have lost a card in hand. However, when most of our spells have flashback, this allows us to regain lost value. Instant 4-of.
Lava Spike, Lightning Bolt- The finishers. Combining these with Past in Flames allows a devastating, explosive finish. 4 of each.
Mystic Retrieval- more burn value, and 4! uses out of my flashback spells. Holy Sh*t, Batman! 4-of, but I'd use 8 if I could.
Past in Flames- the second combo half. I just need to throw this in a blender with some burn, and Presto! A speedy Kill!
Burning Vengeance
- this sticks more value on my flashback cards, cutting down what I need to kill my opponent through various
Char
and Lightning Bolt effects.
Gut Shot- It's free! Perfect for flashback, and a backbreaker with
Burning Vengeance
.
Think Twice
- an elegant, flashbacking cantrip. I'd play with 8 if I could.
Desperate Ritual: Just there for burn capabilities. Synergy with Lava Spike. You know, par for the course.
