Haha, yeah.. caught that myself as I cycled the deck. Very sad about that, but you are absolutely correct, @kizcannibal. Been running it with the treasure cruises, and it makes for a crazy fast deck. More than I had anticipated. Thank you for the input =]

I'd reccomend some more burn, like some of the lightning bolt knockoffs like Rift Bolt andLava Spike

@pryoplasm, that is something I was thinking would be fun to add in as well. I don't know if I should knock out the Magma Jets for those instead for the higher damage less the scry, but would not be opposed to it. Something to mull over, I guess.
I appreciate the suggestions!

Replacing Nivix Cyclops with Kiln Fiend seems like a no-brainer change.

Yeah, I liked the ass to Nivix Cyclops. Mostly out of preference was why he was here, but you would be right in recommending Kiln Fiend. A turn faster is never anything to look over. Be making that change and playtesting when I get my copies.

asdf9660asdf I am aware of the synergy that Young Pyromancer has with this style of deck, which I have considered adding in place of the Monastery Mentor. The reason I haven't is because the tokens also have Prowess, which I consider being worth the 3 CMC. It may come out a turn later, but the prowess tokens being made would be well worth it in these colors.
Perhaps could run it in lieu of Monastery Swiftspear if I wanted more of a token strategy, which could be an option.
As for the tri-color, what happened with Treasure Cruise and Dig Through Time has made my Delver strategy change from aggro to midrange. The white really helps as far as protecting is concerned. Also has quite a bit of hate to offer, which this list would benefit from using.

UWR Midrange runs Geist of Saint Traft.
Also, Magma Jet should be Lightning Helix and your missing Remand.

Lightning Helix should be mainboarded, sorry, I didn't see it in your sideboard.

I am having the same feelings as you are on this one, awesomeguy37. The utility of Boros Charm still has me wondering if I should perhaps keep a few copies to sideboard. I don't think the double strike is as relevant as the indestructible and face damage, which does make me consider swapping it out and going down in count.
Geist of Saint Traft is really good, but I am looking to try this out as an experiment, you could say. If I was going to run him, I would just go without the Monastery Mentor, which I kind of want to see what happens with the prowess tokens... maybe I need to be a little more clear in my description, I suppose. I appreciate the suggestions though!

I'd probably cut down on Monastery Mentor just a bit. unless you have Gitaxian Probe for the same turn you cast it, the Mentor is really more of a 4 or 5 drop, which might be a little slow. other than that it's a sweet deck! +1 :)

tclaw12, thank you! I appreciate the feedback!
What do you think about 2-3 of Monastery Mentor? I do see your point, and it is true that turn 4/5 is really where the action happens, which has me pondering what to put in over it instead. I am tempted to throw more Electrolyze into the mix for the card draw and damage, but I also considering either Magma Jet or Sleight of Hand to help with deck manipulation if I did that. Maybe there is something else out there I am not aware of to add in? Hell, could even move Path to Exile from maybe to main.

It's nothing major, but perhaps replace Vandalblast with Shattering Spree?

the deck is quite interesting the only problem as mentioned is that mentor while being better if tou get the intended value is three mana and pyromancer is two and in this type of deck pyromancer hits every other spell that is not a creature anyway, so in this tempo Shell pyromancer is better in my opinion.Though i would really like mentor to have home in modern the card is awesome.

SpatulonMk3 Thank you for the comment! I am wavering on what sort of removal to run. The only reason I have chosen Vandalblast is such that "target" is no longer an issue. Helps to get around protection, shroud, and hexproof. It is a large drop for the overload, which I could understand. Haven't had the chance to see which one I prefer, but will keep Shattering Spree in mind as a viable alternative.
westberlin Thank you for your thoughts as well! I am on board with the power of Young Pyromancer, but after trying out some light play testing with Monastery Mentor I am interested in seeing how other matchups handle it. Although not wrong about the effective cmc, these colors help make sure that it comes out at some point. I am not usually one for grindy matches, but hey... if it works.
The prowess is pretty powerful too. In the times I had one or two mentors out, the tokens just overrun and get some solid damage through. Maybe something like Daze or others of that nature would help keep it alive while dropping on turn 3. To be evaluated...
Luckily, the shops in my area allow some proxies during their modern nights. This way I don't have to commit to the $$ of mentor to see how it plays out in paper. Always an option for going back to pyromancer.

Can you try out Myth Realized and see how it works out?
March 14, 2015 5:16 a.m.
westberlin says... #18
myth realized is awesome, but can be op or can be useless depending on the time of the game that you draw or/and play, and to be op needs to be played on the first turn or second. if the game goes long a batterskull is more reliable.

JexInfinite Thank you for the suggestion. Myth is a pretty cool card, but westberlin makes a valid point. I would need to run several with some evasion to really make it work, which sounds like a potential deck to be made =]
This is something that I would love in my GOAT SOMETHIN FOR YOU HERE. HOPE YOU LIKE IT. though! Zedruu EDH is nothing but good times, haha.

dadadart, I have wavered on Spell Snare I do see its power in a mirror though. Let me see where I can fit it into SB, perhaps.

Saljen, I was about to change as you posted this! Thank you for voicing that. Was debating leaving it there and swapping Vapor Snag to SB in the event that I needed it. Decided that Path to Exile should be MB and will add snag for disruption as needed in creature heavy matchups.

Nice deck... but Chain Lightning is not modern legal... I'd replace it for 1 Treasure Cruise. That's one card you definetely wanna play in this deck.
