Delver 3-0-1

Sideboard

Gerry Thompson's Deck from Nashville. In play testing against the top my LGS has to offer, I was able to win 3-1 against Sunday's Gameday winner, went 2-0 against Saturday's Winner and played the mirror and won 3-1 against someone who has about 4 years of experience on me, but didn't have the 1 month of experience of Delver that I had.

It was just play testing and we did take it seriously with sideboards but I think we will have some issues with Wolf Run Ramp, (Glimmerpost) and R/G Aggro. The swords will help to get past that, but any game that lasts past 8 turns will turn sour on us quick.

So after tons of play testing and beating up on Humans, U/R Delver, WRR, and Naya Pod, I was ready for my first ever PTQ. The goal out of 8 rounds? Win 1 Round! Yup, that's it. I knew my nerves wouldn't fail me, but still, its a PTQ!

Round 1

I meet a very nice guy named Wesley playing WRR. He hasn't played in about a year and is borrowing a friends deck. For the most part he played his cards well, but in both Games I was just simply Mana screwed and could only drag the game out to about 10 turns before I was run over. Great experience and I didn't get frustrated, just played my cards and went about my business.

0-1

Round 2

What are the odds!?! I meet a fellow player from my LGS. He's not happy facing up against me but proudly announces that he's not running Turbo Fog (which is like Delver's best matchup ever). At the end he calls it a Tezzert deck, but I really don't see it get going. Nothing really interesting happens and I get my first ever 2-0 win and my first ever PTQ Round win!

1-1

Round 3

Zombies! I knew there would be 1 or 2 Zombie decks out there, but really didn't have any information going into this matchup. Game 1, I pretty much hit a perfect curve and it's over in about 5 or 6 turns. I do only see a Diregraf Ghoul and nothing else, so I don't want to commit my sideboard to anything crazy as he did play a Isolated Chapel. Game 2 I was mana flooded (over power shuffling?) but I did see his deck better and his splash for white was for Oblivion Ring. Unfortunately, Round 3 I got mana screwed and end up loosing 1-2. No worries, on to Round 4!

1-2

Round 4

I play a very cool dude named Marco who is running WRR. I just wanted to have a competitive match and not be mana screwed. Due to a change of pace it was my opponent who was mana screwed and I took Game 1 by ease. Thinking my luck had changed, I was feeling confident going into Game 2. It was a close affair but I couldn't catch a mana leak or vapor snag! (What?!) Not really the way to play this deck and sadly, Game 3 was a mirror of Game 2. Got a GoST out, but without protection, really not much I could do.

1-3.
