Delver of Dimir

I have been considering dropping the 2 Angler, but I have nothing better to run. My main plan for getting delve cards is Thought Scour and that's usually enough and with Serum Visions I have little problems finding one.

I almost never use tasigur's effect. Maybe in midgame when I have an empty hand and it's the end of their turn I'll use his effect, but usually he's a 4/5 beater. I also usually don't cast him for 1 mana unless I am doing it on turn 2, otherwise I'll delve 3 and pay 3 and leave some cards in the grave.

I have had a few playtests where I don't get enough cards in grave and get stuck with a tasigur and an angler in hand, but that's rare. I may still swap out a few of my delve cards, but I don't see it happening until some new card is printed.

Thanks for the comment though! I'll definitely keep looking for more replacements!

Annul is also an option.

I've never tried Hurkyl's Recall. Is it an auto-win against affinity? It seems like they can literally just play their hand on the next turn because their spells are so cheap.

At this point I am considering splashing red just for 3 Rakdos Charm in the sideboard, but that makes this deck no longer dimir, which is not as fun.

I'll try Annul. There are a few enchantment creatures that I don't like to see on the field as well.

Is Vapor Snag any good against affinity? What about Abzan? I know it allows me to dodge Abrupt Decay, but can it help otherwise?

Hurkyl's Recall can really slow them down if they are running 4 Darksteel Citadel and they happen to have them in play. I've always liked the card.

Also, I'm not sure how Vapor Snag would do. I'd test it out.

Any time!

Hibernation, ever consider?

Seems a little underwhelming. Also risky because it gives them a chance to recast their Siege Rhino and get another ETB trigger and those things are nasty.

Thanks for the suggestion though! This deck is now retired and has been replaced by Delving Towards Death. The new version is grixis instead of dimir and is much more powerful. Thanks for the comment though!

Sadly, it doesn't help much because without Young Pyromancer I have no need for extra instants or sorcery cantrips. Thanks for the comment though!

So I noticed this was tagged "Budget". Then I noticed off to the side, it says this deck costs $506. That is not what budget means.

Aah, yes. $500 is definitely not budget, but notice that the 2 Liliana of the Veil are just placeholders because of similar name and same mana cost to the new Lili that is going to be run instead. That brings the deck down to around $300 which is not a strict budget, but it not competitive.

Also, it was about $450 last I looked at this deck so some card prices must have changed when I wasn't looking. I know the new Lili won't be cheap, but I am anticipating $30-$40 which would have put this deck right at $300 when it was first built. But like I said some card prices changed since I was last here.

Thanks for noticing though! 'Budget' is a relative term, but I would consider around $300 to be the high end of a budget list for a modern deck that could be as high as $1000 with a few changes
