Why'd you choose Tombstalker over Tasigur? He's cheaper, and doesn't have the double black that strains your mana base. He also has pseudo card draw. I'd also recommend Thought Scour if you can afford to fit it somewhere. Target yourself and it fills up your graveyard for Delve. Also, why so few Young Pyromancer?

JakeMG I was testing out Tombstalker to see if I could make any big delve creatures work, but it doesn't seem to work too well in the deck :/

I've tested Tasigur, the Golden Fang as well, but that didn't seem to work.

Initially, I had 3 Young Pyromancers and that seemed to work better - I'll go back to that set-up.

With only two delve cards (both of which I can usually afford to play) I doubt I need Thought Scour - Serum Visions and Gitaxian Probe are better cantrips in this deck. After all, I don't really want to be pumping the opponent's Tarmogoyfs.

5 check lands? 2 tar pits? That seems like a lot of come into play tapped lands for a tempo deck. Only 7 black sources? I think the manabase needs serious work before you worry about tasigurs or Tombstalkers. Also, what's the point of playing black without adding any hand disruption (Blightning doesn't count, it's awful).

I'd love to include more lands which enter untapped, but those are the most expensive - I find checks will almost always enter untapped. If I can acquire any better lands (fetches, more shocks, etc) I will certainly include them.

As for hand disruption, I want to include it, but can't seem to find any room for it. Currently, I use black primarily for unconditional removal (Terminate and stuff) but would like to add more cards like Thoughtsieze (although that shares a similar problem with fetches - VERY costly)

I understand that budget is a consideration, but Inquisition of Kozilek costs less than both Creeping Tar Pit and the shock lands you are already playing and is arguably better than Thoughtseize due to the prevelance of burn.

As for finding room, you can definitely cut Blightning and possibly 1 copy of Vapor Snag and/or Electrolyze.

I'd also suggest finding room for Thought Scour, you don't have enough cantrips to make Monastery Swiftspear a real threat and the extra cards for Murderous Cut are certainly welcome.

Thank you for your advice - I'll put in two Inquisition of Kozileks for now, and if I come across any Thoughtseize I'll probably replace those: I can always sideboard it out for Dragon's Claw against burn.

I've also put in two copies of Thought Scour, as I was looking for more cantrips to include. I'll playtest a bit and see if anything needs changing.

Seems pretty standard. Only thing I can suggest is more fetches, to power out Mr Banana a bit earlier, and shattering spree or shatterstorm over Vandalblast

Thanks for the advice - I'm collecting fetches at the moment, and if I can get my hands on any they're going straight in the deck!

-1 electrolyze, +1 kolaghans command MB, otherwise looks solid. when you get those snaps, i might still keep 1 grim lavamancer in.

I say cut the Dragon's Claws for 1 Dismember and 2 Inquisition of Kozilek. Then maybe cut the Deathmarks for Mindbreak Traps against Storm decks. Deathmark is nice, but because it's a sorcery it might not work out as well. Plus, it's a little too coincidental for many decks. I might be wrong though.

I prefer Deathmark over Mindbreak Trap - there aren't many storm decks in my local meta and, to be honest, it's not really a matchup I'm worried about playing against.

Similarly, Burn is a big threat to this deck, so I like having Dragon's Claw available. I considered Dismember, but decided against it - having cheap removal like Murderous Cut available makes it kinda obselete.

Maybe 2x Dreadbore instead of those terminates? In my opinion, it is always better.

The big advantage of Terminate over Dreadbore is that it's an instant - that makes it much more versatile overall. I considered sideboarding a copy of Dreadbore against Junk to deal with Liliana of the Veil, but otherwise it's just not as useful as Terminate is.

You might want to consider taking out 1 Murderous Cut for 1 Dreadbore, but that's just an idea.

You should really cut the 2 Drowned Catacombs for 1 Sulfur Falls and 1 Darkslick Shores. You need more red mana than black in the early game, and the Darkslick Shores still allows for a quick black source.

Also, don't play Dreadbore. It's way too slow. There aren't any walkers that scare Delver that can't be countered or bolted.

EDIT: I'd cut the two Vapor Snag and -1 Murderous Cut for +2 Spell Snare and +1 Spell Pierce.

I agree that those lands would be better, but to be honest I just happened to own the Drowned Catacombs and not the other lands. As I start collecting more fetch lands and other stuff that I need for the deck, I'll probably replace the Drowned Catacombs.

As for the Dreadbore, I just find that being able to cast at instant speed is too great an advantage. Tapping-out on your turn can be devastating and allows your opponent to cast powerful spells which you would otherwise be able to stop. I chose Murderous Cut as I felt that the opponent wouldn't expect me to have removal available on their turn with only 1 mana open, but I worry that too many delve effects could leave me with too few cards in my graveyard :/

Thanks for the advice - I'll probably keep in the Vapor Snags as they're super useful in quite alot of situations. However, cutting a Murderous Cut and a Mana Leak for two Spell Snares could work.

Vapor Snag is just bad in Grixis Delver. It's outclassed by Terminate and Murderous Cut. One of the reasons Delver became Grixis was to cut Vapor Snag for a solid removal. After all, the snags are pretty bad against Burn, Twin, and Junk, which happen to be the three main decks in the format. By leaving them in, you are worsening the matchups against decks where it's already unfavored for us.

I suppose you're right - I'll play around with my deck for a while and find some other possible replacements.

Thanks for the feedback - your deck looks cool as well; similar to the kind of thing I'm trying to build towards with this deck.
