Dagger Burn
Demir Dagger Burn was based off of Grixis Dagger Burn, which was based off of a SaffronOlive Seth brew.
This concept was so interesting to play, and on any given game could destroy any tier 1 deck that I had to start brewing with it. The Grixis wasn't very consistent, and now that Rampaging Ferocidon is banned losing red all together is just logical.
Mission of this deck is to disrupt you opponents plans with counters and creature hate while using your own creatures to dig for the combo pieces, then close the game with a... Dowsing Dagger
?!?
The Combo
This deck combos Trespasser's Curse, Panharmonicon and Dowsing Dagger
. The creatures in this deck are mainly for digging for your combo pieces while maximizing interaction with Panharmonicon then to chump Block for more turns to pull your combo.
The Dig
The most aggressive digger in the deck is Glint-Nest Crane, diving 4 deep for artifacts with a flying body for 2 mana is just ridiculous. This has proven superior in the deck over cards like Trophy Mage due to the parameters of the artifact tutor. with 4 of's with both artifact combo pieces I have high probability of pulling them early.Champion of Wits is a great looter in the early game, a wonderful chump blocker that then turns to a late game deep dive body as a 4/4 digging 8 cards in with a single Panharmonicon.Glint-Sleeve Siphoner is a big addition to the mechanics of the deck. as an early drop, we definitely want to attack with it every turn, then draw the extra card every available upkeep. To maximize her usefulness, 4 Aether Hub are here to fuel her draw. The combo works in multiples of 4 or 8 so our win threshold is 16 life. 2 attacks with a Siphoner nets us a card and turn 5-6 death with less mechanics. Hieroglyphic Illumination was chosen here over Glimpse of Genius for its cycling ability. the digging is priority and it isn't often we have 4 free mana in a turn. Opt... nuff said...
Control the Board
Fatal Push and Disallow provide all the flexibility we need to keep big threats off of the field and getting rid of small threats that can speed up our clock to much. We main board 2 Spell Pierce to protect our cast of panharmonicon at the lowest possible cast.
Sideboard
With Panharmonicon out, the best board control I can imagine is Hostage Taker with a double trigger, and the ability to target artifacts, its uses are endless. If you are against a creature heavy attack, Hostage taker will exile 2 creatures. Or in a pinch, grab your own dagger and recast it. From there, the sideboard is fairly simple. This Deck will usually take game 1 in a match. Game 2, install a creature package to change the dynamic of the deck.
Padeem, Consul of Innovation will protect your Panharmonicon and Net you some card draw. Gifted Aetherborn and Hostage Taker take care of the aggro matchup while Torrential Gearhulk sures up the late game against more control based matchups.
If you like the deck, give it an Upvote and try it out in your local LGS!
