”Be careful, lest in casting out your demon you exorcise the best thing in you.” - Frederich Nietzsche
“Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus, omnis satanica potestas, omnis incursio infernalis adversarii, omnis legio, omnis congregatio et secta diabolica.” A translation of Avacyn's Rite of Exorcism as read by Mikaeus, the Lunarch
DECK DESIGN:
The Demon Within is my wife's white/black Human Sacrifice deck. The Deck's name is a play on the movie title "The Devil Inside" which felt appropriate for a tribal human/demon deck featuring a lot of sacrifice!
I cast you out, Demonlord of Ashmouth, along with every power of the enemy, every Ravenous Demon
from hell, and all your fell companions; in the name of Avacyn.
Begone and stay far from these Bonds of Faith.
For the Doomed Traveler, who shall Gather the Townsfolk in order to calm the Harvester of Souls. We shall stay vigilant in our commands, under the watchful eye of Skirsdag High Priest we shall weep in sorrow.
The Intrepid Heros shall tremble in fear, for the Reaper from the Abyss doth cast his shadow over us, enemy of the faith, foe of the human race, begetter of death, robber of life, corrupter of justice, root of all evil and vice; seducer of men, betrayer of the Plains, author of pain and sorrow.
Begone, then, in the name of Avacyn.
SYNERGY: Notes regarding Exorcism
The key to keeping a demon at bay is control.
Skirsdag Flayer is a key control piece, as he helps get the sacrifice engine rolling while taking out opponents key threats / blockers as well.
Bonds of Faith works well as a neutralizer on more powerful creatures, or as a boost to one of the humans if needed. This midrange deck performs best when slowly sacking off the humans to power the various demon powers and morbid triggers.
SIDEBOARD:
No Sideboard exists at this time, this is a casual deck for playing with friends.
BUDGET:
I build every deck under a $100 budget, to be affordable for most casual players. While this removes many of the higher priced and sought after cards from my potential pool, it also forces me to be creative and look into a wider scope of cards. Occasionally I have a deck that exceeds this amount, either due to price inflation over time, or getting a few lucky pulls in packs that I opted to keep, and in those rare cases, I will attempt to annotate replacement options that would bring the deck back in line with this budget.
FEEDBACK:
I’m always open to new ideas and injecting new life into older decks. If you have a suggestion or just want to discuss the theme of the deck, feel free to comment below!
