So this was my first pre release (actually my first time playing in a magic event ever.) My pull didn't include any obvious cards, but some really put in work. I decided on just red white aggro because it seemed pretty good, and my promo was red (Wildfire Eternal). Deck kinda build itself, I just took out the bad cards and a bear or two.
Game One - opponent all in on Locus God!First round win,
Puncturing Blow
to the god sealed his fate. Getting to 48 life off of camels was upside.Second round loss, opponents deck went of perfectly, it was really fun to see. Killed by swarms of 1/1sThird round win, Couple of misplays put me behind in the beggining, but life gain off Glory-Bound Initiate let me stablize for a Wildfire Eternal value win. Worth noting that
Sunscorched Desert
and Ramunap Ruins dealt the last 5 damage on a stalled boardstate.
Game Two - Store owners black white kinda zombies.dont really remember these games well. Worth noting the deserts doing really good, his zombie camel (forget the name) is doing really good. Round 2 won off of Wildfire Eternal into a
Inferno Jet
. Game win 2-0
Game 3 - Blue black control (didnt see a payload or deeper theme)Round one - Opponent mana floodedRound 2 - I got mana screwed at the beggining, but recovered and beat face before opponent could capitalize and/or draw their bombs. Game win 2-0
Game 4 - White black pile (couldn't see a deeper theme)Round 1 - early game was lost (
Festering Mummy
just recks my 3 mana 3/1s). Got there in the end thanks to Wildfire Eternal value,
God-Pharaoh's Faithful
lifegain, and
Dauntless Aven
synergy with exploit.Round 2 - Almost the same as round one, but more lifegain on my end.
End thoughts - Prerelease was fun. Incidental lifegain really did work. I would consistantly find myself at 30 life for no aparent reason other than just lifelinkers. Won 6 packs, totally worth it.
