Slight Tweak —April 26, 2015
I decided that I really do need to have Path to Exile around for those pesky matchups where land destruction isn't going to cut it. No changes were made to the main yet. I want to spend more time with Set Adrift before I cut it down to one or zero copies.
SB changes:
Very interesting but in play testing against my modern deck (Zoo) you were needing of removal for my creatures as I can play off of two lands. I would recommend dropping the two Set Adrift for two Vapor Snag as vapor snag can be played at instant speed and does not require a massive graveyard. You may also want to drop the Lightning Helixs for Path to Exiles as zoo and infect will not care so much about their lands being destroyed. I wouldn't worry so much about your opponent's burn deck (especially with that fourth kor firewalker).Sanctimony is a card that few people know about that is the worst thing for burn players imaginable, i would run them over kor firewalker if you come across them.

Coyfish40 Thanks! Boomerang has really nice utility. My main concern with it was that it was a bit expensive for this deck. I'm not sure I'd want to mainboard it.
44hydra44 Yeah, Zoo is not a good matchup for me. The two copies of Set Adrift are probably the weakest slots in the deck, and I haven't quite been happy with them. I had both Void Snare and Vapor Snag up for consideration as well. I do think Void Snare is a bit better than Vapor Snag because of the added flexibility. In general, I usually need to tap out every turn.
I can often cast Set Adrift by turn 2, but I am worried that having two is dangerous. I did get to Set Adrift a Tasigur, the Golden Fang against Splinter Twin, which was really satisfying.
Part of my reasoning for adding the copies of Lightning Helix is that it covered all three bases, Zoo, Infect, and Burn, in one sideboard slot. Path to Exile is probably the superior card for the first two of those, and would be my only real answer for Tarmogoyf. There are people playing all three of those decks in my meta, but the Burn player is always there, and he's one of the top players. I haven't gotten to play against a decent Infect or Zoo deck yet, unfortunately. I'll have to think about it. I might be overcommitting against Burn.
Sanctimony is really good. I haven't seen anyone playing it yet, which is odd. I'm going to run Kor Firewalker over it for a few reasons.
Kor Firewalker can kill your opponent and is more effective against other red decks since it has a body.
Kor Firewalker recently became better since Burn players have been removing copies of Skullcrack and Flames of the Blood Hand for Atarka's Command. So, they tend to have fewer ways to deal with it.
Some of my cards are red, so Kor Firewalker gains me life from my stuff as well.
Burn players can respond to Sanctimony's lifegain triggers by using that mana for the win.

44hydra44 You have so many decks! Is this the Zoo deck you mentioned?

I got a chance to play this deck against my Abzan deck today. I lost game 1 without being able to keep his land count down. It was a little close until Siege Rhino hit the table. Then I scooped.
Second game I won, even though I was upset to find my 3 copies of Trickbind were not in my deck box. He kept a land heavy hand, and I got my creatures going.
Third game I accidentally kept an unplayable hand. Whoops.
Game 4 I did manage to win. He didn't do too poorly, but I had too many LD effects. He also was taking my Young Pyromancer with hand disruption throughout the 4 games instead of Boom/Bust, which probably gave me more of a chance then I should have had.
Path to Exile is looking better and better. It's a shame that it so completely goes against the plan for the deck.

This is a really cool, well made deck. Have you thought about Boomarang? It can bounce lands...
