A U/B control deck built to accompany Sphere of Safety with enchanted heroic creatures while further keeping your opponent's board controlled with
Arrest
, Supreme Verdict, and Detention Sphere...
...until AEtherling or Elspeth, Sun's Champion effectively finishes your opponent.
If waiting isn't your cup o' tea, just finish them before that with your superpowered
Fabled Hero
or
Battlewise Hoplite
(a la Aqueous Form + Ethereal Armor).
The goal with this deck is to start pumping out your enchantments from the get-go. Blind Obedience is an ideal turn 2 play, as protecting your life total against hasty creatures early in the game is important. The extort effect and the enchantment synergy will also come in handy later on.
Don't have Blind Obedience in your starting hand? No problem!
Battlewise Hoplite
is your workhorse in this deck, along with
Fabled Hero
, and is a fine turn 2 play. Enchant either of these heroic creatures with Ethereal Armor and Aqueous Form in the next few turns, and you will have a major threat on the board. Daxos of Meletis can swing in and sustain your life total while potentially stealing cards from your opponent to further defend your turf.
Your opponent will likely shift his focus to killing these creatures, which is quite alright. Wasting turns trying to answer these threats, he will be caught off guard when he sees your Sphere of Safety hit the board. This is where playing enchantments such as Detention Sphere and
Arrest
will pay off, effectively shutting down most or even all of your opponent's efforts to take you out in combat.
At this point, you can clear the board with Supreme Verdict in case of a standstill, and start collecting mana to pop Sphinx's Revelation and draw into your finisher. AEtherling, as most blue players know, is one of the most effective finishers in standard. Cast him only when you have at least 7 mana, leaving a blue mana up to ensure the creature's survival.
Comments with suggestions and constructive critism are always welcome. I want to find something to take out for the white and/or the blue Ordeal cards, as those enchantments can turn your early turns into a totally unexpected Azorius Aggro kind of game.
