Megalomania: Thank you. I am curious. What stax effects do you consider to be the best for Leo? I agree that Wheel and Deal would fit the theme of the deck, but I am trying to limit my wheel effects to only the best. Wheel and Deal would proabably be my second choice after Whispering Madness.

I haven't put much thought to it really. I was thinking get some stax pieces on the board, some draw engines and Leowold. That should help mitigate the stax effects, at least on your end, and keep the opponents locked out.

Maybe Bottomless Pit, Smokestack and Contamination then add some land hate, additional land drops (Oracle of Mul Daya, Azusa, Lost but Seeking, Burgeoning, Exploration, etc.) and Crucible of Worlds. Like I said, I haven't put much thought into it but this was the general concept I had in mind when it was spoiled.

I have nothing but the utmost respect for a fellow ruthless bastard at the table. +1, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Same to you my good man

Descent into Madness is a good STAX card.

Painful Quandary is also very good. Since their hand is so precious against your commander, they'll have to make hard decisions on whether to cast something or not.

Painful Quandary and descend into madness feels more like win-more cards I think. They're expensive for how quick the deck is and don't bring enough immediate effect to be included. Just my thoughts though.

Thank you everyone that has contributed to this project so far.

Quick Poll: what do you all think of Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir as another stax/protection creature in this deck? It violates my current Unearthing policy :-( but it forms a hard lock with Teferi's Puzzle Box and gives even more protection to my doomsday package. It also pushes me deeper in the blue which may helpm me support Gush. Thoughts?

I think you have enough island subtype lands in the deck to warrant including Gush. Teferi has worked out nicely for me in other decks, he might work here as well.

If you're drawing 7 cards quite frequently then you'll be able to play Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir without any troubles.

Considering is still only worth it for Laboratory Maniac and your commander I don't thinking the other point is relevant.. Unearth + Mana Dork = Waste of a card and a mana when you draw 7 cards frequently enough to never miss land drops.

If nothing else, Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir is also part of a hard lock with Knowledge Pool. Pool isn't mush use on its own, but if you're running Teferi anyway...

Thank you. I agree that Teferi seems worth the include.

This switch will very likely lead to a number of big changes in the deck. I have been wanting to slim down my Doomsday packages for a while. Adding Gush will save me 2 card slots. To support this I will be cutting a ton of other cards for islands and also adding a High Tide packages that includes Candelabra of Tawnos, Transmute Artifact, Trinket Mage etc. Early testing has been encouraging but I am new to high tide and would love some input: Leo the Ass Pounder

Boseiju, Who Shelters All would be a good addition to guarantee your Doomsday resolves without problem.

Oh thats nice! Ill have to keep that one in mind. Thank you

August 22, 2016 10:49 a.m.

Actually, I lied apparently. Doomsday has no generic mana in its cost.. But it'll help your other instants and sorceries.

I just realized that there is no Alhammarret's Archive in here. With all the wheels you're playing, it is an incredibly powerful source of draw if the combo doesn't go off immediately :)

I really like archive, but I am on the fence with it. It is kind of like Notion Thief for me. Great with wheels but is it "win more" given the streamlined nature of the deck. I could see its value if the game goes a little longer. Play archive, then the following turn cast leo and a wheel. I'll definitely keep it in mind. Thank you!

Love the deck, Leovold is such a mean commander :D, my Nekusar Deck is crying right now. Here's a weird and expensive suggestion: Eureka

Cast a wheel with Leovold out, strip everyone of their hands, and then cast Eureka to slap all your permanents on board with minimal drawback.

Or, on a budget, Hypergenesis.

I like it! +1. I'm building a Stax/control shell around Leo. Any chance you could take a look and suggest some improvements? Leovold Stax

I love the deck my friend. The card advantage Leo gives is amazing. You managed to play to the strengths rather well. +1

I will make some suggestions a bit later when I have more time. This makes me want to rework my Tasigur deck

if you ever make a sideboard you can use hivemind doomsday to mess with people you know arent running dday stacks. i dont know about the competitiveness of it though . ..

Lilbrudder says... #24

Hivemind sounds like alot of fun but it isnt probably competitive. Either way it will speed the game up a bit lol
