what an great deck this is, I agree with many others this will be a great deck to fight against combat and to the winner all the glory and pride.

So the Caldelabra is a mono artifact which means you have to tap it to activate it. With High Tide, and not counting regrowth or Yawg Will, that just doubles your islands one time.

Was that an oversight, or do you have a way to go infinite that I didn't notice?

@gkilgore98: You can bounce Candelabra of Tawnos with Capsize, replay, rinse and repeat.

You bounce Candelabra of Tawnos with Capsize replay it and untap your islands. Rinse and repeat for infinite mana then use Capsize to bounce all your opponents permanents. You need four islands in play for it to work, which is easy with fetchlands and wheels on turn 4 or 5. Or if you manage to get a bunch of fast mana early you can do it sooner with three islands since the mana engine grows exponentially if you have a Regrowth or Snapcaster Mage to recur with High Tide

Raging_Squiggle & flightsongs: Per your comments I have added Disrupt to the sideboard so it can sit in a place of honor for flavors sake until I can decide what (if anything) to do with it :-)

Durkle: I changed my hubs to be more accurate. I have found cruel control to be pretty funny myself. "My deck is so mean so it is obviously cruel control..." I hope someone will put more specific hubs on this website soon so I can advertise in the proper channels :-)

I like the changes done to the deck, after some playtesting vs. older iterations of the deck this one usually comes out top. I am wondering, which doomsday piles are you using in this deck vs. the older interations, Lilbrudder?

Tolluf: I too have found the changes to be to my liking. Thank you. I essentially replaced Predict with Gush. I also cut a pile that included Unearth and Street Wraith since 3 distinct piles seemed overkill. While Predict can be very useful if I turn 1 Dark Ritual into Doomsday all three of the cards I cut for Gush were really bad draws except wraith which was just nothing and I prefer to go for Doomsday after I have locked the game down. As for the specific piles I copied them out of this article that appears to be somewhat dated. Being new to DD I didnt know the difference at the time:

is this meant for 1v1 or 4player free for all?

Lilbrudder says... #11

4 player free for all but I suspect it is even more oppressive in 1v1

This deck is awesome. I would recommend Unearth for bringing back Laboratory Maniac and Leovold, Emissary of Trest. It also has cycling for when you include it in your Doomsday. Street Wraith for instant speed cycling.

Here's my deck. :)

Thank you! I originally had both in the deck for doomsday, but I was not really happy to ever draw them and I didnt see the need for a third pile. I would be scared to use Unearth on Leo because if it gets countered he is pretty much stuck in my graveyard. Usually when I cast lab man, it is after I have locked opponents out of the game and if they target him with removal I just win due to Leo's second ability. I am happy to check out your deck

Because of the title, I thought there was going to be the card Broken Concentration in the deck. xD

Teferi, Mage of Zhalfirfeels 'win more' to me. Opinions?

August 26, 2016 6:37 p.m.

Lilbrudder says... #17

He certainly can be and he is by no means essential, but if you flash him into play at your opponents end step and then follow that with a Leo+wheel it certainly can disrupt your opponents plans quickly. Is he better than Time Spiral? That is what I am trying to figure out at the moment.

August 26, 2016 6:51 p.m.

It's a supremely powerful card that, at instant speed, locks every opponent out of your turn completely. And gives you free range on everyone else's turn. It helps protect your combos, set them up, or neuter your opponents. Especially if they're playing blue.

i like time spiral better in this deck. yes tefferi locks opponents a bit but timespiral is card draw, untaps lands and if you are running out of gas, it gives you more. test with both, see what you like

Daedalus19876 says... #20

I feel like the comparison between the two is somewhat apples-and-oranges. They do very different things: Teferi is protection and Spiral is gas. I assume you haven't had a chance to playtest this much IRL, and that kind of decision depends heavily on meta calls. I would initially go with Time Spiral, and if you find your plans are being disrupted too often (in particular via counterspells) then switch it out.

August 26, 2016 8:27 p.m.

Lilbrudder says... #21

Daedalus19876: They are indeed very different cards. I am only comparing them because both are large spells I would hate to have in my opening hand but are absolute bombs in the mid to late game. I really only want one such card in the deck for consistencies sake. Since I just added Whispering Madness, (which is proving to be a great add since it can facilitate a double wheel the turn it is cast) I will probably stick with Teferi for a little longer for his praetor like effects and the fact that if he resolves and lasts till my turn my opponents are boned. I suspect I will eventually go with Time Spiral since card advantage is usually my prefered choice all other things being equal.

(Huh. After seeing AsykoSkwrl's comment, maybe I'll try and whip up a $35 Leovold deck as a challenge. I do get great joy out of doing that sort of thing. But I suspect it would be exceedingly difficult. The deck is simply reliant on so many high-profile cards...)

Lilbrudder says... #23

AsykoSkwrl: While 3 color decks can be harsh on a budget by their very nature I definitely think a more budget brew is possible. Most the essential cards to the strategy are actually really cheap. All but a few of the mana dorks and wheels are really cheap. You can replace original duals and fetches with bouncelands pain lands, and temples with little drop off in a 7-8 turn game and there are a ton of cheap draw, control, tutors (transmute) and removal cards for EDH that get the job done at a commander night. All of us started on a budget at some point and winning with trash rares can be extremely satisfying.

Daedalus19876: Once you have a rough draft would you do me the favor of linking it to me so we can work together on it? I am happy for it to be your list (we can even advertise it on this deck for the budget minded). Seeing what you have been able to do with our girl Sidisi has me convinced we can work together to make a truly devastating budget brew.

Lilbrudder: Definitely, I'll send you the link as soon as I whip something up! I'm about to go back to college, however, so my time will become much tighter. Hopefully I'll still have time to make a rough draft this week, though. I look forward to our collaboration, sir. Let our opponents tremble in fear to look upon our handiwork!
