There's planty of gorgons to flesh out the deck here

First of all, MisterRoach, how the hell do you make your name glow like this? Its cool :)

I know there are other gorgons, problem is, they're either really bad cards or simply too expensive for me to buy. Visara the Dreadful and Vraska the Unseen would make great Christmas gifts though Loll. Damia, Sage of Stone is my favorite, but she'd do nothing useful in this deck, and splashing blue without good expensive lands would throw off the mana base (I've tried loll). Waiting for Ravnica's third set for a new gorgon maybe?

It takes a bit of html to get it like this, honestly i don't remember how. I'm sure Google can help lol.

Aren't there cheaper alternatives to Diabolic Tutor ? My EDH deck uses Brainspoil which is dual purpose... late-game removal if needed but more importantly can tutor up Asceticism , probably Beseech the Queen would be a better choice... no point looking for something when you can't cast it...

I'd find something to do on turn 1, Duress or Inquisition of Kozilek would do the trick, even Vendetta sure it costs life, but it's only for early-drops

Thanks for the ideas! Hadn't thought of transmute. I'll check it out. (Worst thing is, I actually own a set of Demonic Tutor s, but they're already in another... more serious deck. It's hard to look at Diabolic Tutor and not compare it and want to vomit... loll.) I'll try out Beseech the Queen !

Any suggestions for a sideboard? I want Witchbane Orb against burn, maybe card:Autumn's Veil against counterspells, but have no clue what else to put in there. (meant for casual multiplayer)

wait, you have a serious deck, where is the link (i though you only played casual)! i suggest adding visara, she is a nightmare.

Loll yeah I have more serious decks like deck:lotus-dd-character(D&D Character), HUBRIS - Outrageous Arrogance or TRANSFORMERS (Mono-Grey Midrange)... but they're all casual :D This one is my favorite: ULTIMA, called by my friends my drain life deck :) It's played in 4-6 players games, and it's one of the most terrifying decks in my group, since it can easily throw a lethal Exsanguinate and drain dry every players at once :)

Nice! I'm really flattered that you liked my idea. I definitely like what you are doing with the defenders.

You might also try card:Ranger's Guile or Sheltering Word if you are looking at using card:Autumn's Veil. I love all three, haha. But Autumn's Veil is definitely more sideboard-y.

Askani28 says... #9

Love Sheltering Word ! definitely good against control, maybe even against aggro for the lifegain, which would be very useful when combined with No Mercy . Hey... Tree of Redemption would be funny with Sheltering Word . Plus, it's a tree, fits in a garden ;) What do you think?

November 27, 2012 3:34 p.m.

Fleetfiend says... #10

Yeah, I definitely think Tree of Redemption would be awesome, and fits in with the defenders as well.

I'm also going to suggest Wall of Tanglecord , at least in the sideboard, to give you some reach. Deadly Recluse and Silklash Spider are awesome as well, I especially vouch for the second one.

Fleetfiend says... #11

Nevermind, just saw Spidersilk Armor . Doh!

November 27, 2012 5:54 p.m.

Askani28 says... #12

Yeah I shouldn't have too much trouble with flyers with Spidersilk Armor and Diabolic Tutor to fetch it. And since it's meant for multiplayer, No Mercy should make me an uninteresting target in the early game for evasive creatures. (I love Silklash Spider though, already have 4 in my monogreen-control deck "Beware the Enchanted Forest... (MonoGreen Control)"!)

November 27, 2012 6:11 p.m.

Wow. I like the garden flavor of this deck. Very unique. Too bad Carnivorous Plant isn't more useful. He'd fit right in, a cute friend for your gorgon's to play with! I dunno, maybe Vine Trellis or Utopia Tree ? Both give mana to help with the Gorgons, which are expensive; plus they have garden flavor. Anyway +1 from me.

Askani28 says... #14

Hey PriestessKikyo1 thanks for your vote :) Oh damn, I just love your suggestion of a Carnivorous Plant , she would be just beautiful in the gardens loll. A bit useless, sure, but beautiful loll. (I must still have like a dozen of them in my old card box from high school!)

I thought of putting Vine Trellis at first, but later I decided to switch it for Wall of Blossoms for the card draw. Still not sure though. Draw or mana?

December 3, 2012 6:54 p.m.

chilbi says... #15

Draw. Not even close. You've already got 8 accelerators, that should do it. So+1 for a great and really flavorful theme. But then, walls wearing an armor? I see what you're trying to do here but there has to be some better option - Canopy Surge can finish opponents and even Gravity Well has at least... um... some trees on it?!? :D

December 5, 2012 2:12 p.m.

Askani28 says... #16

Oh sweet!!! Gravity Well would fit with the flavor way better than a silk armor glued on the branches of my plants lol. But I'd be loosing the extra toughness, and other problem, since we play in multiplayer, flyers would lose flying even when not trying to enter my garden. How do we explain that? Too many heavy statues are generating a gravity field on the planet? Loll Umm... What to do.....

December 5, 2012 7:51 p.m.

Warzin says... #17

what about Vraska the Unseen as an aditional gorgon? and Manor Gargoyle as one of your statues?

December 8, 2012 9:37 a.m.

Askani28 says... #18

What about Vraska the Unseen ?

22.99$. That's what. Lollll I would love her in my deck if she was budget friendly!

Manor Gargoyle , on the other hand, is absolutely perfect. He's so flavorful it burns my tongue :D What could I take out for it? Maybe in sideboard against mass-removal decks? (i.e. every white decks my friends have loll)

December 8, 2012 10:01 a.m.

Askani28 says... #19

Just realized Vraska would actually make the entire deck 50% more expensive Lolll

howabout some well needed 1-drops? I'm thinking Tinder Wall to tie into the flavor, never mind that it produces and requires red, mana is still mana and defenders are still defenders, and it would also let you drop Axebane Guardian a turn earlier and a whole lot of other things 2 turns earlier.

possibly even Magus of the Vineyard too... theoretically a group-hug card but has a nasty edge to a player who has no idea what they're in for or a player who has a knack for over-extending...

i'd also suggest Wall of Roots it's a good defender, not needing to tap to produce mana, and is hard to get rid of as well as being a potent mana-producer.

December 8, 2012 10:35 a.m.

Askani28 says... #21

Thanks for the ideas :)

But one drops? I hate one drops lol, they make the game faster. I like to play slow and make it last longer ;)

Seriously small creatures are mostly loss of card space in my meta. Our casual multiplayer is very slow and powerful, almost like EDH, so unless the one drop is really useful late game (like Mother of Runes or Phyrexian Reclamation ) I think it would weaken my deck. My strategy here, as dumb as it may sound, is actually to play it slow and defensive so my friends don't feel threatened by me. While they kill each other, my garden grows, and it's only when my gorgons come out that they start trying to kill me, but it's too late, with Asceticism out and a bunch of defenders, I'm almost invincible. (almost.. lol)

(In a duel though, I agree, the deck is very slow)

December 10, 2012 9:14 a.m.

gheridarigaaz says... #22

Yeah i get you, but something like Tinder Wall is very unassuming... its a defender, for Pete's sake, that none of their 1-drops, short of a Vexing Devil or a Sleeper Agent will be able to punch through. But it can also give you a much needed leg up when you absolutely need the extra 2 mana. I have no idea how Magus of the Vineyard plays out in multiplayer, but i can imagine your opponents will be too busy bashing each other's faces in with their 2 turn-early-cast, overextended, creatures to notice you're building up even more resources than they're putting down with the extra mana.

I think the deck might need some lifegain if you're going to do the whole long outgrinding thing against your opponents. Sure there's Tree of Redemption but I think you might need something a bit more long-term, like Quiet Disrepair , which could work well in tandem with enchantments like Rancor and Glistening Oil , which you aren't running, or Grim Feast , which is generally a good move in a multiplayer game...

December 10, 2012 9:58 a.m.

Askani28 says... #23

Quiet Disrepair would fit nicely at least in the sideboard. I admit Grim Feast is intriguing, never seen that card. Could be really powerful in my meta with a No Mercy out. I already thought of putting Rancor for the Sisters of Stone Death . Combined with their "exile blocker" ability would allow trample damage to get through completely. But I have no clue what I could remove for them. Removing walls could weaken the deck's mana base and early defense, so i don't know. I already own 4 so I'll wait and see it in action. As for Tinder Wall , I'll give it a try just to see. But what do I remove?

December 11, 2012 4:13 p.m.

Askani28 says... #24

Same for Magus of the Vineyard . What could I remove to try it? (I'm still not sure how he'd turn out in games, but he fits the garden flavor so perfectly its almost funny. He's actually planting flowers loll)

December 11, 2012 4:16 p.m.

gheridarigaaz says... #25

Looking at the mana curve you probably might want to reduce your 4-drop spells... are Diabolic Tutor s actually THAT necessary? If you're outlasting your opponents without any tutoring, you're probably drawing into the spells you want because the game grinds on so long... Spidersilk Armor almost acts like an intangible virtue for your defenders except that they don't get a bonus to their power, having multiples isn't as beneficial. You probably dont need a full set, and Gravity Well seems like a better choice in a multiplayer game. I'd probably cut down to 2 Asceticism s 2 spidersilk/wells and just cut out the tutors giving you room for 7 cards. Maybe get some utility out of your land slots with Grim Backwoods as a 1 or 2-of
