It's a nice deck but I don't understand why you're running Pithing Needle Mainboard.. It shouldn't be in there and there's heaps of other good cards you could run

ie. Kalonian Hydra , Burning-Tree Emissary

December 7, 2013 3:17 p.m.

The Kalonian Hydra I agree with completely the only reason I haven't put that in is a funds issue lol The Burning-Tree Emissary are nice but I haven't really got room for them and they don't hold enough value for how this deck runs to sub them in for anything.

Pithing Needle are mainboard simply for Planeswalkers which are now more common than not in Standard plus there are a lot of cards with devastating activated abilities, Aetherling for one. At last nights FNM I used all three Pithing Needle against U/W Control Deck and stopped Elspeth, Sun's Champion, Jace, Architect of Thought, and an Aetherling from being a threat.

Both Gyre Sage and Experiment One both are great cards but not for this deck. The Evolve mechanic would work in this deck but its much slower then building devotion.

I would not want to play against this deck without making a deck of my own specifically to counter it. Very well balanced and you didn't overload it with high-costing cards like some do. My mono-green deck isn't a devo-deck, but there are some cards from this I would love to use in mine. My only thought right off hand would be to swap something you use the least for Overrun .

December 7, 2013 8:03 p.m.

I would def consider Overrun for this when I play it in modern I also throw in Genesis Wave for modern as well where I dump about 20 mana into it and place at least 17-20 permanants onto the battlefield with it lol its an awesome combo to pull off.

This deck build rocks!!!. I do have one question though, with the changes that i do see on the post and based on ur deckbuild on top, what did u add and remove? I tried the deckbuild. its great, but the changes ur making throughout the trend seems awsme... pls help sir.

December 14, 2013 9:12 p.m.

Thanks man I appreciate it give me an upvote lol. The build I have up now is the final version I will be updating. I run Naturalized mainboard not fog that was my mistake. Fog is def a sideboard card and is necessary against faster aggro decks. Naturalize comes in handy most all of the time and I use it with Pithing needle against control decks along with subbing in the guilgates and rootborn defenses. I hope this helps and if you have any more questions feel free to ask. Let me know how you do with this build its always nice to see one of my builds do well, and thanks again.

Yes sir, a well-folded piece of steel. I've been screwing around with this at my friend's house, building it out of whatever cards we have, and this is basically what I was going for but better in pretty much every way. I had too many spells, it's better to just go hard with the creatures, really. I do wonder if maybe it would be better to run 4 Arbor Colossus and 3 Nylea's Disciple . But hey, it's awesome, +1.

December 22, 2013 12:58 p.m.

Thanks for the vote man. I run 3 arbor colossus bcuz though he is a big body he is not always relevant whereas lifegain usually is. I usually gain double digit life with nyleas disciple.

This is super close to my build for a similar deck :D (Big Green: Theros Ramp)

But the differences are that I run the Disciples, Naturalize (I use Fade into Antiquity because of the gods) in the sideboard, and I main board things like Gyre Sage and Deadbridge Goliath . I'm not sure if those are necessary, I do want to try 2 or even 3 Worldspines in their place, but after doing a little testing against your deck, I found that I usually came out on top because I had more ramp in the form of 2 more Nykthos, removal in the form of Polukranos, World Eater , and an additional Garruk. On multiple occasions I was able to clear enough of your board with Polukranos that either you couldn't gain that much life with the Disciple, or Karametra's Acolyte didn't do much for you.

So I would consider at least adding in 2 copies of Polukranos, World Eater if you haven't considered it, and also getting more Nykthos and another Garruk because I hit mine every game whereas I didn't draw yours ever in 5 games. I think that extra copy really does make a difference.

Good advice thanks I have considered polukronos and kalonian hydra

This deck is awesome. It's pretty similar to my Mono Green Devotion deck. I use the Sylvan Caryatid which you don't, and also Boon Satyr, but your choices make sense to me.

The one thing I'd recommend is to consider Sylvan Primordial, at least for the sideboard. Ramped out on turn 4, he wins games. And in a longer/mid-range game, he blows up Planswalkers, Detention Spheres, and potentially key lands. I've had awesome luck with him, so just something for you to consider.

+1, it's super cool!

Giant Adephage makes tokens of himself...which each count as 2 devotion, because they share the mana cost. I don't know if that's of any use to you, but there it is. :)

December 23, 2013 8:06 a.m.

That wouldn't be a bad 2 of might have to test that one

Not really a big fan of Boon Satyr simply because by turn three I want to be dropping creatures that are out of burn range
