Introduction
Hello all. Thank you for taking the time to view my deck. For this deck, just as a little preface, I love to play aggro. However, I am getting tired of the current aggro meta. With all the Mono-Blacks,Reds, and Blue. I wanted to make an aggro deck made from my favorite color. Green provides the needed ramp to get to Nylea, God of the Hunt and Polukranos, World Eater. With that being said, lets get on to the creatures.
Turn One Pressure
The thing I love about most aggro decks is that they have turn one pressure. Green is no slouch in the one drop department, running 11 ones drops, and in the one drop slot we have Experiment One, Dryad Militant, and Elvish Mystic Experiment One is a fantastic card overall, with the ability to grow larger with every creature that you drop that is stronger than it, can get out of hand very fast for your opponent. Dryad Militant serves as a way to grow Experiment One on turn 2. Elvish Mystic ramps, that is it's sole purpose. Moving on.
Bring on the Brigade
In the 2 drop slot we have bigger creatures, that nets you devotion, and some potential answers. Here we have Kalonian Tusker and Skylasher. Kalonian Tusker is a 3/3 for 2 green mana, nuff said. Skylasher is a bit more peculiar in this deck for 2 drops devotion wise. Normally, in green devotion decks, you see Burning-Tree Emissary. However, I don't like her, because she doesn't add anything to the board state, and while the 2 devotion symbols are nice, she doesn't do much else. On the other hand, Skylasher has reach, and has protection from blue, it can punish flying creatures, as well as protection from one of the most prolific decks in the current meta. And with its reach, it can be paired with Aspect of Hydra, and be absolutely devastating for your opponent.
Three is Free
The 3 drop slot is reserved for probably 2 of the most relevant cards in this deck. Reverent Hunter and Boon Satyr are two very good cards. Reverent Hunter is an absolute nightmare for your opponent if they do not have the proper answer for it. It can easily net 4-6 +1/1 counters when dropped at the appropriate time. Boon Satyr is a very nice card to have in this aggro deck. Being able to get another body on your opponent is helpful for this decks aggro strategy. Being able to flash in a Boon Satyr just adds more pressure to the board, and is another problem for your opponent to have to counter.
Gods and Monsters
In the 4 drop slot, we have 2 creatures. Nylea, God of the Hunt, and Polukranos, World Eater. Nylea's effect to give all your guys trample is just too good. Her other effect is very situational, and not recommended, unless you really need to push through for that extra bit of damage. Does Polukranos really need an explanation? A 5/5 and kills things is just way too good, and with Nykthos, his monstrous could get absolutely ridiculous.
Bows, Hydra's, and Lessons
In Born of the Gods, we got a really great pump spell for green. Aspect of Hydra, is absolutely nuts when used properly. This card is Giant Growth on steroids. It's like having Reverent Hunters effect, but being able to bestow with out the high cost. As for the other spell, it is Bow of Nylea. Deathtouch is too good in a format where there are creatures running rampant. It makes your Elvish Mystic a reliable chump blocker, and turns all your creatures into removal spells. And finally we have Warriors' Lesson. Originally, this was 2 Garruk, Caller of the Pride, but he didn't fit with the deck because of the high mana cost, and I'd rather be drawing into something else. 2 is the perfect number for Warrior's Lesson because it net's you at least 2 draws if timed correctly, and drawing in a green deck is always a good thing.
Mana Base.
As for the mana base, it's pretty simple. 18 Forest, 3 Mutavault, 1 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, and 1 Rogue's Passage. The Rogue's Passage I love because it makes it so your creature can't be blocked, which is really good for an aggro deck.
Side Board
The side board can vary depending on your local meta, this one just so happens to be tailor made to mine. If you have any suggestions on the side board, let me know!
