Nice design, but I'm wondering...won't the effect of See the Unwritten result in a 0/0 Genesis Hydra?

davebot Yes it will, which is why I would substitute it for Genesis Hydra . I would only use See the Unwritten to POSSIBLY get out two Hydra Broodmaster or a Broodmaster and Nylea, God of the Hunt if I don't have her out already.

OPxMagikarp, I actually did manage to win 1st place 4 weeks ago and I finished 3rd last week, so it's okay. But yup, it's just the price we have to pay: Our deck will run into terrible control match ups where we have no chance of winning unless we get lucky, BUT we'll always be competitive with other decks.

Looks like a lot of fun to play, but why don't you run 4 Wooded Foothills ?

Pedinator This is just the deck I have most currently. I will definitely add more once I get the money/trades for them!

You're only playing 3 Red Sources, 7 if you count caryatid. That is nowhere near enough. I understand that this deck wants to curve, so you can't play too many tapped lands, but you need more red sources. 4 Temple of Abandon would be ideal, but Rugged Highlands is a fine budget option.

tooTimid I will be adding 2 more Wooded Foothills and 2 Temple of Abandon . Surprisingly, I have found no problems with this current set up and most games, my win con has been a Crater's Claws .

He only needs 1 red source in play, so there is no need for adding more, I think the disadvantages of the land coming tapped into play are to high to add 4 temples

tooTimid I do technically also have Xenagos, the Reveler as a source for Crater's Claws once he's out too. And yes, Pedinator I agree with that. Although I like the scry in conjunction with Courser of Kruphix . I can throw away what's on top and possibly have a sneak to see if playing a Genesis Hydra will be worth it.

man this deck is mean! +1 I kept play testing it and every time by T6 I was either winning the game or just dropping something unanswerable. Great build glad I'm not playing against this is my area.

I narrowly managed to beat this deck with my own. Butcher of the Horde <3Anyway, this deck is brutal. The only way I got around it was with Iroas, God of Victory + flying so you pinged all your insects on my spirits, and I sacrificed one to Butcher and gave him lifelink so I stayed alive at 1 life. I used read the bones since Butcher's attack set you down to 1 as well. Lo and behold, I get a Sign in Blood with my Read the Bones and have two mana open. One of the most nervewracking games I have ever played. If you want to playtest yourself, my deck is http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/30-10-14-nuM-mardu-control-aggro/

11 11/11s, gruul story bro, but splash blue for Kruphix, God of Horizons to float even more mana. Try and beat my record of 'baby' hydras at 128 128/128s ;)

dont get me wrong, this deck is awesome, my brew is very similar except I splash blue for infinite mana with kruphix, but this is faster, albeit less impressive :P

With 3 Hornet Nest you should consider Chandra, Pyromaster and Setessan Tactics to just pump out those tokens. Like it still and gave the +1.

Really sweet deck but you have 2 Arbor Colossus in sideboard and 3 in the main, just thought I'd let you know. +1 though

Looks fantastic, I am picking up a set of brood masters and nykthos to try this baby out. I only have one xenagos currently though, wondering what you would consider running 2x instead? I have always been a fan of Setessan Tactics might give that a try or is xenagos just too essential to cut?

hesuskrist I love Xenagos because he's essentially yet ANOTHER ramp if you have more than 4 creatures and forces opponents to at least put a little bit of damage his way if they don't want you to get to his ult.
Setessan Tactics is another great choice especially if you want to swing it at your own Hornet Nest to pump out tokens.
I would say try to get at least 2x Xenagos in the deck and that should be solid. I used to run Reverent Hunter also which can come in as a HUGE creature late game and even gives some solid board presence early game.

I'm shocked that one of the best hydras in standard isn't in a standard deck!! Mistcutter Hydra
