That seems like it would do a lot better, because card advantage is very important.

Why not run more shrines? It seems like you could get some serious usage off of it.

Nice ideas for card advantage. I threw together a green stompy deck and only had 3x Garruk, Caller of Beasts to help with that and was really looking for solutions.
What do you think of Skarrg Goliath ? I ran across him when looking for stompy cards. Also how about Colossus of Akros ? I mean by the time you want to drop a stompy, you don't care about more green devotion and this guy is indestructible and can't be hit by that son of a bitch Tidebinder Mage ...

Been playing this deck for awhile and as long as I'm not playing against someone who knows what's coming and not against burn there's just no way in hell I'm losing. I saw that you were talking to someone about using Clan Defiance and I can confirm that this works just fine. It CAN become a dead card which can really hurt in a deck like this but the look on your opponents face when you smash them for 40 damage is just priceless. I actually ran 4x Temple of Abandon to make sure I had a red source and to be able to scry to avoid more lands or to be able to ship mana dorks when I had enough. I tried experimenting with Prophet of Kruphix but the splash hurt more than it did good so I went with the mono-green (+ Clan Defiance ) and that's what I'm still running. +1 (why can I only upvote once? :(((( )

corythackston-As of right now, I don't have any Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx 's, so my current goal is 1. I'll eventually bring it to 2 when I get the 2nd one.
Apoptosis-Skarrg Goliath is certainly playable in this deck, but more often than not he is going to be used as a bloodrush finisher, like swinging with an Elvish Mystic and turning 1 into 10. I personally am not a big fan of Colossus of Akros and while he does dodge the Tidebinder Mage , I have different solutions that are better then him like Time to Feed , Ratchet Bomb , and even Mistcutter Hydra .
Rochard-Thanks! I will probably get around to getting 1 or 2 Temple of Abandon s for this deck to make the play consistency better. I've had a lot of people suggest Prophet of Kruphix to me. It seems like it would be great, but it is stil another color to splash, I have no way to boost to it to save it from a simple Lightning Strike , and it can be an awkward cost even with the ramp, because on turn 4 I'm going to want to hit an Arbor Colossus or a big Mistcutter Hydra or even Garruk, Caller of Beasts . I think Prophet is a great card, I just don't think I have room for her in this deck.

I would run 4 of the shrines if you can get them. Use the legendary rule to your advantage

Hey i've seen your deck float around for awhile now. T2 Wurm FTW!
i've been playing alot of FNM's with a few different decks. In the periphery i have always been dabbling in Gruul. A couple weeks back i split some Gruul ideas into a more focused Green Devotion deck. The foundation of the deck was an understanding of the meta, or in other words i started my card selection based on popular decks being played and the ability to combat well.
Anyways i took the deck and battled to a 2-0-1 record at my LCS (local card shop) in the first evening tourny. i gotta say it was hard fought victories, but it was certainly fun to play. Take a peek, and hopefully there are ideas that can help in your preparation for your upcoming FNM.

At most I will probably run 2, because I find that 80% of the time that I end using Karametra's Acolyte . For the big mana production as she can be pulled out with Garruk, Caller of Beasts and other current methods of deck pulling.

Sylvan Primordial definitely has a place here. I run two. It's more protection from flyers, a definite draw for your shock lands, and non-creature removal. I usually go for the lands. Especially if i get it out super early. We play a lot of multiplayer games in my group and he's very helpful in these type of situations. Highly recommend!

pasngr46n2-I could do Sylvan Primordial in the sideboard as I have no Mistcutter Hydra s right now and it will probably be easier to get 2 rather than 4. I just don't think Primordial has room in the mainboard.

I pulled 1x Karametra's Acolyte and 1x Voyaging Satyr and run 3x Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx . One of the guys i was playing against actually slammed his cards down and begrudgingly chuckled, "Man, that's a fast deck". After two free-for-all's i was target number one. It was a mana dork massacre but all i could do was laugh. I also don't have any Primeval Bounty right now either so i had a few slots for them. I kinda want to get a few Alpha Authority 's in there to. They make Worldspine meaner and any other beasty that may have trample thanks to Nylea, God of the Hunt .

Yeah like they said, the most important card in your deck is the Shrine, just run 4 of them. When you draw into two of them, activate the old one, play the new one, sac the old one and activate the new one with the old one's mana for double the mana!

I'm still running this deck and I'm having a blast. Took out a couple of forests and added 3 Nykthos (4 total) and 4 R/G scrylands. Using one less Voyaging Satyr and an additional Polukranos. The Nykthos activation into replace Nykthos for an additional activation mana is just beyond crazy, and this deck was already crazy.

This is how to turn two win with 2 more cards

I like this build very much so, especially since I have most of the deck already xD. But, have you considered running Deadbridge Goliath ? sure he's not great, but he's meant as a dev ramp/chump blocker so you can gave his scavenge ability real easily with green dev decks. Also In my build I tend to use 2 Hunter's Prowess for additional creatures. With such massive creatures I get the bonus of the trample plus the card advantage. But that is all. +1 from me.

So I'm having to budget a little until I get the last few pieces for this deck. Right now I'm thinking of running Varolz, the Scar-Striped , Jarad's Orders , and Commune with the Gods until I get those last couple cards. Thoughts?
