Swekyde

God, do we die to Torpor Orb. Standard R/G/X ETB dudes the deck.

Three most important things (in order it seems) for Thromok are having Haste, having Trample, and having lots of dudes to eat. At X=3, we most care about Trample since a 9/9 otherwise isn't the end of the world as a three shot kill. At X=4, we two shot kill, so both are about equally important. At X=5 we're one shot killing, so Haste is far more important to ensure that we even get to attack.

Going for the one shot kill is a bit more of a perfect storm and requires lots of targets to devour, so if you want to do it often you need lots of sources of tokens. Instead we went in favour of grinding things out; we ramp hard and then after our ETB dudes have done their duty, we drop them and go for it.

Drawing cards is a little difficult for this deck, so we need pseudo-draw when we can't find real card draw. Stalking Vengeance and Warstorm Surge get us some burn stapled to our creatures as they come and go. Fecundity adds in on this to make sure that when a creature dies, it replaces itself or more.

All in all, these effects couple with the repeatable devour target generation from our Planeswalkers, many who have a second function. Garruk Wildspeaker ramps us, or helps us go for it with Trample if we don't need tokens. Xenagos also helps us ramp when we don't need tokens. Sarkhan gives us Haste if we don't want to steal a dude and eat it that turn. Finally Garruk, Primal Hunter gives us another much needed source of raw card draw.

In theory we should go deeper on making a ton of tokens and then eating them to go for it in one go, but the local meta gets a little too scared of you landing too many permanents. That means that Overruns and other anthem-style effects aren't as good, neither are cards that make tokens at a cost and do nothing else. We just can't afford to stick those permanents and hope to not get locked out of the game by the other three control players.
