I think there are still some voters that would disagree with you! In any case, I usually don't do this until the third pack when things become absolutely clear.

Yeah, our better cards at the moment are black and white, but that doesn't mean anything yet. We only have 3 great white cards and 2 great black ones. There's still room to change our plan if better cards show up in other colors.

+1 Pit Fight
We're light on instants and we don't have any ways of getting better utility out of our Arrester or Detainer. Detain is cool and all, but after they (the Aziorius Creatures) are done durdling, it would be nice to get them to fight it out and trade with (potentially) more than one creature.
It should also be noted that setting up powerful blocks with the Guardian of the Gateless and then following up with a Pit Fight when we know that the Guardian is going to die is a great interaction.

@jkarnes - Make sure to cast that vote on the actual article page or I might miss it.

So, do you think KrazyCaley is going to be sad that Island probably won't make the final cut?

I refuse to accept you guys chose Unflinching Courage over Gaze of Granite. So, I'm going to pretend that never happened and in my own world the decklist right now would look something like this: Angelic Skirmisher , Azorius Arrester , Azorius Justiciar , Gaze of Granite , Concordia Pegasus , Corpse Blockade , Dutiful Thrull , Guardian of the Gateless , Drudge Beetle , Orzhov Guildgate , Golgari Guildgate , Putrefy , Swift Justice , 2x Stab Wound , Ethereal Armor , One Thousand Lashes , Rites of Reaping , Verdant Haven , 4 other unknowns at the moment, Forest, Plains, Swamp. If our remaining packs are bad, Armory Guard would make it.

I really enjoy the DDD's, but I've actually pretty much given up on this one. It was a bad idea overall to run the draft backwards. With no real focus, every pick is just a bickering war. I'm excited to see the results, but I've more or less checked out when it comes to voting.

landgrafb come back. Of all the other people on here, I've respected your opinion the most. Would have been good to have your contribution this last couple picks.
I actually think it's getting interesting now. We could swing BWG, BWR, or BWgr. The others may not see the last one yet, but I think a tiny splash of both(the best one or two of each, plus Pit Fight), depending of fixing, could very well happen.
May 24, 2013 11:10 a.m.
It's all Putrefy 's fault. I think without it, people could have stuck to the plan that we were building.
At this point I'm beginning to believe the only viable way we can go now is BWG. At least, that's the only route the majority will vote for.

I'm on board with vic 100%. I still think a few of our best cards are in the splashes, and we owe it to ourselves to put our best WBrg forward.
Things I think we need to avoid:
Any semblance of reliance on Battalion. We're simply not going to do lots of swinging.
The idea that here in the last couple picks some powerful red will suddenly fall in our lap.
- Avoidance of red cards just because we're "in" green. We can still pull off the whole deal if we fix right.

Amen, brother. As long as we keep away from 4 colour we might just salvage a playable deck. Drafting this backwards has really been a bit odd for me. I'd much rather do it normally, so that the focus on grabbing fixing is a lot less on people's minds. I can see now why wizards wanted it done the way 'round they chose.

@vic I came back when we focused a bit more and the discussion wasn't just mindless bickering. I like our Junk prospects at the moment. It's currently a very bad idea to run 4 colors. Our red is great, but not enough so that we can run 4C without about 5 gates and a cluestone.
May 26, 2013 4:11 p.m.
landgrafb interestingly, it looks like there's a good possibility that we'll end up catching 2 Boros Guildgates on the wheel. If we get those, that's gonna create quite the dust-up when it comes time to choosing the maindeck.

Oh god... I actually expect the gates to be drafted at a premium this late in the process. I would be surprised if we see more than one or two more gates in the remaining packs.
If we can get two on-color red gates, though, it could easily be worth splashing for Firemane Avenger

IF that happens sure, as long as those guildgates are replacing plains and we don't run any actual mountains. I'd still only do it with 3 red gates though. 3 is pretty much what you need for a splash, especially if it's a 4 mana creature.
Much as I love the Firemane Avenger , we can't mess up our mana by putting in basic red mana sources. I'll be freakin' amazed if we get 3 red gates but hey, anything's possible.

That's what I threw together from this. We really are low on dudes. I wish we'd nabbed that green gatekeeper.

thebeardedshuffler says... #21
Obviously I chose to drop red entirely in favour of a more consistent mana base. Even if we are a little low on dudes, more reliable mana is more important.
May 27, 2013 5:57 p.m.
-1 All the red stuff, -1 Unflinching Courage , -1 Armory Guard , -1 Balustrade Spy , -1 Crypt Incursion , -1 Mending touch , -1 Pit Fight , -1 Renounce the Guilds ?, -1 Kraul Warrior , -1 Ogre Jailbreaker .

So.. you think going with 13 creatures is the way forward?
May 27, 2013 6:01 p.m.
Thirteen isn't too bad if that's the deck we're trying to make. Gaze of granite should be in here, but I agree no need for ethereal armor...

Might we Sideboard/Maybeboard stuff that are non-white/black. It seems clear due to the voting that we are shooting for Orzhov. :D
