Nykthos is simply there so I can dump a hand (if I even have one) on only 3 lands, which at only 21 lands happens. Also if it turns into a stalemate and my opponent has no board wipes, I can dump all that devotion into Heliod for tokens.

Very situational, but useful nonetheless. It isn't integral to the deck though, so if you'd feel better without them you can drop them.

What're some awesome things you've done with this deck? I think my best so far is T3 kill.

Haven't reached a T3 kill yet, but I made sure to have 2 spears in the deck. I always find myself dropping fabled at T4 rather than T3 because I make sure to drop a spear first or leave 1 mana open for God's Willing to protect him. Haven't had a situation yet where Heliod came into much use, but I know he will soon. I'm also planning to remove some ordeals and probably mainboard celestial flare or some chosen by heliod just so I have a hand most of the time to surprise or play mindgames with the enemy + I already have enough life gain to absorb damage due to the abundance of lifelinks. Other than that, there's not much to improve in this deck, it's pretty solid for me.

Huh, I guess Chosen would be better for the aggro game because of the draw power. I tend to run out of gas fast. I think I'll chuck Ordeal into the sideboard over Blind and see how that works out.

Thanks for the thought.

also, have you tried going with Renounce the Guilds in the sideboard, for those annoying control decks?

October 8, 2013 10:13 a.m.

Aerokid says... #5

Yes. My only issue with it is that it's a sorcery and doesn't hit aetherling or obzedat. Control rarely has more than 1 creature out so celestial flare seems more useful to me.

leatherface says... #6

Sir, I believe renounce the guilds is an instant, so it can hit obzedat, but still not aetherling. I'm planning to use it since in my meta, most U/W control decks only has a few detention spheres at play without any creatures, or detsphere with ashiok all of which would benefit me when one leaves play.

Aerokid says... #7

Hah. Whoops. I can read I swear. In that case it depends on how the meta shapes up. I need something to deal with aetherling, but det sphere is a biyatch too..

Hey i have been using this deck and its been doing well its control with the sideboard i use. I put 6-8 Forest in the sideboard as well as 2 Loxodon Smiter , 4 Rootborn Defenses , and a few Alpha Authority or Gladecover Scout / Witchstalker

One 1st in my local shop's tourney using this deck. Was able to take care of a stormbreath dragon by mainboarding sets of celestial flares and removing 4 enchantments. Besides lucky draws, I still have no good answers for that creature. Also, trying to sideboard Glare of Heresy in case of mirror matches/ G/W midrange since monowhite enchantments are starting to become meta.

Seems like this deck could use Sphere of Safety

Would you consider Path of Bravery at this stage? I feel like it provides a great engine.

I know you're deck has trouble against control and I just ran two playtests against my esper control deck Heisenberg. You went 0-2 being milled out both times. My spot removal picks off your creatures leaving you without good targets. I think for your sideboard Fiendslayer Paladin is not an ideal fix, but it neutralizes some of my removal. Maybe also Glare of Heresy over Celestial Flare ? That could exile Detention Sphere , which also slowed you down both games. Possibly just more low CMC creatures to swap for auras Judge's Familiar might work well. Anyway, hope this helps. Please feel free to playtest against it to help you refine your sideboard against control.

vladenstock Nope.

smalley Anthem-wise, the Spear is strictly better because it isn't conditional and it's also an enchantment so it buffs Ethereal Armor . Lifegain-wise, the amount is negligible because I usually only trick out one creature and swing huge with it, and my lifelink enchants usually do the trick.

Apoptosis Thanks, Esper control is the bane of this deck's existence. How exactly did you sideboard this deck? I generally drop Ajani, Gift, and the spear and cram in as many creatures as I can to exhaust their removal.

I do think Glare would be helpful, but my main fear is Blood Baron of Vizkopa which is almost a hard counter to my entire deck. Flare also nails Stormbreath which is another very bad card for me to see.

I did just clear 3 spots in the side, so Judge's might be something to throw in there.

I didn't use sideboards in the matchups, just straight mainboard. My esper control deck doesn't run Blood Baron of Vizkopa , so that wasn't a factor.

I think for any control matchups, you need to consider that enchantment auras will often result in 2 for 1 against you, as control will have a lot of spot removal and wrath.

Can I ask why you prefer Gods Willing over Brave the Elements ?

Heroic triggers

Aerokid says... #18

@smalley what pudgeep said. Also Scrying is incredibly useful. I don't usually have enough creatures out to justify using mass protection.

Apoptosis so you would suggest dropping all of my enchants for my entire sideboard and try to weenie rush control decks?

Honestly, I don't know. Cards that as a control player I wouldn't like to see that still help you:

Gift of Immortality
Any of the enchantment creatures, that bestow mechanic forces me to 2 for 1 or use spot removal immediately. Since you are mono white to go this route would require you to stack extra lands in the sideboard to be able to make land drops and pay the higher CMC
Mutavault !! Easy for mono white to bear, a pain for control. You should run 4x
Fiendslayer Paladin some of my spot removal can't hit him
Auramancer card advantage
Renounce the Guilds maybe
Boros Reckoner not so great against me, but you should consider. He would add to this deck and derserves to be in here. I love this card!
Frontline Medic if you can get the battalion trigger this guys the bomb, plus hoses sphinx's rev, which is a game Ender.
Boros Elite you're white, you're aggro. Why not?
Fireshrieker this might be your answer, double strike is amazing for getting that extra damage dealt

Anyway, I don't know. These are the cards that caught my eye going through the sets. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Have you considered using Silence for control match ups ?I run them in my mono white standard deck and it helps out so much .

October 24, 2013 1:29 p.m.

Aerokid says... #21

It doesn't counter spells they've already cast, and I can't know exactly what they're going to cast or when so I can drop Silence on them beforehand. It'll only buy me a free turn before my creatures get bounced or killed again.

Nice deck! I've always been a fan of enchantments! I've made a deck that is similar, but is W/B and more control-based. I would love it if you and Apoptosis would take a look at it and tell me what you think. The deck is Blightcaster Control [Budget]. Thanks a lot!

Also, to anyone piloting this deck or something similar, be careful with Gods Willing ! It can cause your enchantments to fall off of your creature as well.

Cool take on an enchantment deck! Where's Heliod, God of the Sun ?

November 4, 2013 10:29 a.m.

Aerokid says... #24

adelstad He's in there as a 1-of in the main because he's only really useful for closing out games against midrange, which I don't really see played too often. He's probably going to the side soon to help my deck against control matches.
