Monkey Madness! Like that Runescape quest. Remember that one? This will get a lot of laughs at the table for sure.

Unfortunately, the ape/monkey tribe is quite underpowered at this time, but I am excited to see what kind of new simians Wizards releases in the future. Thus, for now, I have decided to divert my attention from creatures and focus instead on the artifact synergy of this deck.

Green Red is a strange color identity to play group hug. We focus on untapping and copying the ability of our commander as much as possible, while making sure our opponents eat the bananas or lose them. It doesn’t take long before the Monkey Prince has more than ten counters, and then, “wam”! We drop Embercleave. Imagine a monkey with a giant sword— very Souls-like. Anyways, that’s one example of a combat win. In some group testing, ‘Diddy’ gained enough power to kill by turn five!

Another example of a combat win is to turn all of our bananas into dinosaur bananas with Displaced Dinosaurs— a happy accidental find on my part. What a flavorful win! It is like a slightly weaker version of Cyberdrive Awakener, but I can’t complain. It’s pretty good tech for a color that typically does not like artifacts.

One way to punish our opps for eating the bananas and any other “sacrifact” tokens is with Bloodroot Apothecary. Are you tired of your little brother’s overpowered five-color food deck? Make sure that food poisons him to death. Also, if the opps’ lands are annulled with Winter Orb, then they may choose to use the bananas in spite of the poison.

and of course, there is the Mycosynth Lattice + Vandalblast combo, which is self explanatory, and quite exciting for playgroups that don’t mind board wipes.

I will now divulge other tantalizing combos (one of them makes infinite bananas!!)

Kibo, Uktabi Prince + Saryth, the Viper's Fang + Street Urchin tap Kibo, then sacrifice bananas to one-shot creatures.

Hammer Mage + Mycosynth Lattice destroying lands and 0-cost artifacts

Hellkite Tyrant + Mycosynth Lattice

Kibo, Uktabi Prince + Liquimetal Coating + Clock of Omens + Primal Vigor infinite tapped bananas for everyone! Name Kibo as the artifact for turn, tap him for two bananas, tap two bananas for clock of omens’ cost to untap Kibo, and repeat! That’s one happy Monkey!
