Thank you Wizards!!! Temur Battle Rage is just the kick in the pants this deck needed!!! Giving double strike to a prowess creature at instant speed is amazing... Plus giving it trample as well! Oh, I love it!!! LOVE IT!

Your thoughts on Trumpet Blast in here?

January 11, 2015 2:38 a.m.

Dragonman39 says... #3

I had Trumpet Blast in my original build, but it didn't do enough for me. I found it ended up being a dead draw most games. I needed lower cost spells to trigger prowess multiple times on Monastery Swiftspear to get the most effect. Now with Temur Battle Rage The effect will be even more devastating! So much for chump blockers on turn 3!

lol, I had been curious about it for my own sleigh build, but I was playing 4 hordeling outburst, which I feel would give trumpet blast more value. I dont know, I was curious about it.

how about Flamerush Rider?

Does the theros set not get rotated out when fate reforged comes in to effect?

Dawsfree, Flamerush Rider is above my mana curve even with the dash. He'd be a dead draw in most of my matches. This deck needs to have a kill by turn 4-6, and there are more efficient ways to do that.

3NTHI0S, Theros block will not rotate out until the fall of 2015.

So is Dragon's Maze the set that is rotating out?

January 18, 2015 2:51 p.m.

Dragon's Maze rotated out last fall. Nothing rotates out this time. When the first fall set after M16 comes out, that's when the whole Theros block goes. Then, sets will rotate out two at a time every time a new block starts.

Dawsfree, I have decided to throw Flamerush Rider in as a 1-of to see what happens. It is a great card and I'd hate to overlook its potential because of its mana cost. I'm going to run some playtests and see how it goes.

I'm not really comfortable with your sideboard, so I came up with my own :) What do you think?

2 Chandra, Pyromaster

3 Dragonrage

3 Fated Conflagration

2/2 Wild Slash / Lightning Strike (Either one of these, not sure)

2 Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker

3 Outpost Siege

There are some other cards I was considering. Mainly Searing Blood, Blinding Flare, Magma Spray

You have some good ideas there. I haven't figured out my sideboard yet with the new build. I had it set for the old build... That Outpost Siege works quite well with the dash mechanic.

I think that this deck is going to be hit hard by abzan. I play red deck wins at FNM and the only deck I can't get over is abzan.

Have you looked into Break Through the Line? It's a 2 drop enchantment that for R gives a power 2 or less creature haste and unblockable until end of turn. I know that your deck is built for speed, but there is no reason to cast spells to prowess up a Monastery Swiftspear if a chump blocker is on the board...Imagine this. Turn 1, play a mountain, then swiftspear, swing for 1. Turn 2, mountain, cast Break through the Line, prowess pops on swiftspear, swing for 2.Turn 3, mountain, pay the one R, swiftspear is unblockable. Attack, then cast Titan's Strength, prowess pops making swiftspear a 5/4...opponent is now at 12 life.Turn 4, mountain, pay the one R to make swiftspear unblockable again and hit with another Titan's Strength, followed by Temur Battle Rage. Swiftspear ends up being a 6/5 creature with double strike that just ended the game! Either that, or use Rouse the Mob to give her +2/+0 and trample so the damage carries over. Just a thought...

It became a boring deck to play with and to play against :/

Don't get me wrong ! This deck is STUPIDLY STRONG against any deck that's not optimal since its low curve allows it to blast the ennemy while maintaining pressure.

So it's not against your deck personaly, but too much people are running this type of deck in Standard (RDW), making it boring to encounter since it's easily crushed in the current meta (Jeskai Control, Abzan Aggro/Whip, Sultai Whip, UW etc.) and all the games look exactly the same :/

When I encounter one I'm like "Man... Not you again RDW... you know you're gonna get crushed, so why do you struggle ?" (that's really what I say to the opponent and usually they don't trust me until they can't get me under the 9th life point xD)

If you have fun with it, alright then ! But I know a lot of people who play it just because it's an "easy-win" but don't like it :/
