I think Elder Deep-Fiend is a perfect creature for building a Flash Midrange deck in Pioneer. It can be used aggressively or to control, and its mana efficient with its Emerge cost and Cunning Nightbonder.

Alternate win condition include Slitherwisp, Thryx, the Sudden Storm, and Hullbreaker Horror from the sideboard. Slitherwisp is great burn and card advantage and Thryx works well for a beatdown in the air. Hullbreaker Horror is strictly brought in for really grindy matchups, a couple examples in the meta would be Azorius Control or Rakdos Sacrifice.

Since this is a Midrange deck most of our Sideboard Strategy is straightforward, outpace the slow decks and control the fast decks.

• Duress gets brought in versus control or anything relying on noncreature spells, it’s really strong against uncounterable spells which our deck can struggle against.

• Fatal Push comes in for aggro, spirits, rogues, and certain midrange matchups.

• Grafdigger's Cage is specifically for Rakdos Sacrifice.

• Dictate of Erebos I love as a sideboard. It’s crazy good in so many Midrange matchups, and overtime will out value Rakdos Sacrifice.

• Spectral Adversary is brought in versus removal, most notably board clears. We are heavily creature based and need to protect them to outpace control.

• Hullbreaker Horror a great piece in long games to lock our opponent out.
