Game 2 wasn't nearly as close as game 1, but these sort of analysis take a lot of playtesting. Essentially I landed Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver and was able to continually mill you down. The game was stalled out evenly but a Detention Sphere took out your 2 Omenspeaker s. Eventually I was able to get card advantage with Sphinx's Revelation , which let me counter or remove threats while Ashiok stole your Thassa, God of the Sea , Desecration Demon , and 3rd Omenspeaker . That army plus my own AEtherling (which you initially countered, but I got back with Codex Shredder ) let to a two turn beatdown while you were stuck topdecking.

I think you could use more Hero's Downfall over Doom Blade . More draw with 2x Jace, Architect of Thought and possibly either another Read the Bones or Underworld Connections . Another Ashiok or two, and 2x Thoughtseize . Hope this helps. You have a solid core, it just needs a little enhancement.

If you added anything 2x Jace, Architect of Thought is where I'd start.

Yeah I like Jace, Architect of Thought but I have a question, you can't have both Architect and Memory Adept out at the the same time correct? I wish I had an Esper control deck :D but they are too expensive SADFACE

No you can't, but you do get to decide whether to have one or the other in play. the new planeswalker run means you can case one to replace the other. i.e use little jace to gain card advantage, then drop big jace to start the mill machine (or just use little jace's -2 2x).

Yeah, the only problem I have at the moment is budget wise, 2x Jace, Architect of Thought = 40$ 2x Thoughtseize = 40$ both combined are worth more than my entire deck, so its really hard deciding if its worth the money to make some improvements. Thats also my issue with Esper Control or even just Azorius, those decks are really expensive to build, totally awesome decks, but just really expensive

Might i suggest Returned Phalanx as an even earlier wall. And Duskmantle Seer as a hate card for control and big R/G or anything midrange.

I bet with a little patience you can get 2x jace aot on eBay for 20. That's where I get most of my singles. Probably your best upgrade for the money.

Yeah ill just have to search around, I refuse to pay 20$ per card, I got lucky and pulled Ashiok on my first booster ever bought of Theros and my only booster in fact lol. This is why I strayed away from Esper, 30$ for 1x Sphinx's Revelation and I need 3-4... nty. I can still dream!

@ jimaejackel I don't have Temple of Deceit in the deck as of now because it comes in tapped, and im not sure scry 1 is worth making my deck slower than it needs to be, im perfectly fine running basics. It is something I need to play with though and figure out if it hurts me or helps me.

Yeah i can not see myself paying that much for one card (but have and most likely will again) As for the Temple of Deceit i like them but sometimes they feel like a hindrance and am debating taking two out of my deck to make room for basics. Turn one its fine. Turn two not so much. turn three? Your killing me smalls.

Yeah and thats my exact issue with them, sure you get to scry, but if you need access to mana at that point in time and all you have is land that comes in tapped, your at a loss. I am not worried so much about shocking myself for 2 with Watery Grave because most of the time I have things under control and don't mind losing 2 most of the time, and if not comes in tapped, I don't get to scry but I still have the option to play it ready and loaded.

Yeah i think before taking mine to FNM on the 18th i will -2 deceits and +2 watery graves. Can you still use Thassa's ability to make creatures unblockable even though she is not a creature? I think i asked that in the QnA once and got a yes. but cannot remember.

Yes you can, thats the only reason she is in the deck, she cant attack or block if she isn't a creature, but I use her for scry and unblockable.

How do you feel about a Curse of Swine+Ratchet bomb for wrath? Cyclonic Rift takes a bit too long imo. Gets rid of Gods too!

I retired this deck quite a while back, I made the swap to Tread with Caution (1st place FNM) go check it out and give some feedback, ill do the same for your deck! As far as thassa and the guildmage, they do awesome work for the deck overall, scry 1 per turn is amazing and can set up much needed draws.
