I think Paraselene, Tempest of Light and Patrician's Scorn are all probably better than Cleanfall for the sideboard.

I don't think any game has gone on long enough for me to need Cleanfall. I'm honestly considering just taking it out as the game ends before it would be beneficial anyway.

I took Cleanfall and Sphere of Safety out of the sideboard. They never see play and frankly they just aren't strong enough.

bean How is Tempest of Light better than Cleanfall exactly?

That's a fair assumption, but with this particular deck's strategy it would basically be cast on one of my turns anyway.
Given that Echoing Calm is better than all four of the spells in question I'm confident that I had things under control.

Up above in your Saturday modern tournament, you said this:
"I held on in the third hand by having Providence in my opening hand and casting it on turn 7 after Angel's Grace saved me a turn. The Elves were fast and fierce but couldn't attack hard enough to overcome 52 lifepoints."
You know that Providence doesn't gain you life it just changes your life total. So you wouldn't go from 26 to 54. You would go from whatever you are at to 26 even if you are already at 26. Just letting you know for future plays like that.

The play was worth 54 life points. It is a literal account of the game.

Also, I reccomend cards like Serum Visions to help you filter your hand and get the combo pieces in hand. Countermagic can help protect your pieces if they are about to get removed too. Also, a manabase with Godless Shrines, and Marsh Flats would help with fixing.

I actually don't have any blue mana in the deck; I suppose I could put in some Mana Tithes.
Godless Shrine and Marsh Flats would be fine additions, but for the price I can make due with some Caves of Koilos

You should run snow covered lands so you can nuke plains with Echoing Calm + Enchanted Evening but not hit your own lands. Just food for thought

That is the most hilarious thing I've ever read! I'm totally going to go grab up some Snow-Lands at some point so I can mainstay that combo.

Auratog for blowout wins? Devour Flesh to turn that auratog into an insane lifetotal and back out of adjani draws? Call the Bloodline to turn dead cards into lifelinkers stalling the game? Sin Collector Nevermore or Runed Halo for combo? Porphyry Nodes/Timely Reinforcements for stall?

@lagotripha just play thoughtseize and inquisition of kozilek for combo

lagotripha: Auratog isn't as strong a blowout as the engine I already have prepared, and I'm not too keen on sacrificing non-tokens. Likewise Devour Flesh, Sin Collector, Nevermore and Runed Halo don't provide enough power to compensate for not drawing one of my combo pieces.
Call the Bloodline is a good card to add, but I rarely draw anything that I don't want to play.
Porphyry Nodes is just a little too risky.

Porphyry Nodes trades like a delayed push, at worst. with only 4-and 5 drops in your creature slots, it is the most disruptive card you could run against aggro. With declaration mainboard you can avoid it trading for tokens. It is insanely good- test it. In terms of risk the only issue you will have is if an opponent kills all their creatures with a viscera seer in response to you comboing off, and even then its more likely to hit a token, who you were planning on saccing anyway.

That's a good point you've made. I'll mess with the numbers and see what comes up, it's definitely worth some trials.

this deck is pretty wacky but it is weak to boardwipes and control/counter decks.
weakness 1: you have your entire set up ready then someone decides to do a big ol' boardwipe such as Day of Judgment or pull off a Goblin Kaboomist+Bearer of the Heavens combo or even a The Great Aurora resetting everything.
weakness 2: you try to get a piece of combo off and somebody be like, "nope. Cancel it." and they will have plenty of ammo to use.
+1 for creativity though.

A huge weakness in every MTG deck is serendipity; can't overcome that, certainly.
May 26, 2017 11:14 p.m.
you have more black than white lands but you only have 3 cards that use black. you are going to have a hard time getting enough white. the black isn't even necessary to the deck.
Rurara_Rahura says... #1
Oh, lol. I never use the Sphere of Safety, I actually forgot it was on the list. It's just in my sideboard for shits and giggles; I don't think it's ever even been in the deck much less in play.
