Maybeboard

A pretty general RUG deck that does what most Maelstrom Wanderer decks want to do.

Right now, I'm trying to figure out what cards in the "Maybeboard" will make the deck generally more effective.

I'm looking to drop a few cards that I've found just aren't helping as much as I thought they would. Dack's Duplicate, and Progenitor Mimic just feel like they're too expensive for copying something, especially if I cascade into them really early, and on to a near-empty boardstate. Phyrexian Metamorph and Clever Impersonator at least have the benefit of being able to copy non-creature permanents as well.

Currently, cards like Force of Will, fetchlands, and ABU Duals are preferable, but not feasible.

Any help would be appreciated!

The Combos
Deadeye Navigator + Palinchron or Phantasmal Image
Some Infinite Mana never hurt anyone, and this one's pretty well known. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do with it in a vacuum.

Food Chain + Misthollow Griffin
This infinite mana combo's a little more effective than Palinchron bouncing, since you can exile Maelstrom Wanderer using Food Chain, giving you unlimited Cascades.

Avenger of Zendikar + Purphoros, God of the Forge
Assuming you've been ramping like you should have been, you'll likely have enough lands out to spawn enough plants to create enough Purphoros, God of the Forge triggers to wipe your enemies out, outside of maybe an Oloro player.

Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker + Zealous Conscripts
Basically Splinter Twin wins. I use Zealous Conscripts over the more recognisable Pestermite and Deceiver Exarch due to the card's stronger individual utility, without having to rely on combo pieces.

The Cool Cascades
Remand or Venser, Shaper Savant
Cascading into a counterspell just isn't fun. Unless it can return your Maelstrom Wanderer to your hand to allow for more cascades in the future.

Jokulhaups or Apocalypse
Thanks to Maelstrom Wanderer resolving after his Cascade triggers, he'll usually be left on a barren field. Even better if you can manipulate your topdeck into a board-clear followed by a big beater.

Etherium-Horn Sorcerer
Literally just a bunch of value. Why only cast spells off a cascade, when you can get a creature in the process?

Temporal Mastery or Time Warp or Walk the Aeons
The value that Time Walk effects give are just absurd when you cascade into them.

Tooth and Nail
Paying the Entwine cost while cascading into it more often than not wins the game, thanks to the 2-creature combos that the deck offers.

RIP, Prophet of Kruphix.
