I was considering Vraska, Relic Seeker but decided against it as I'm looking to overwhelm the Opponent with as many Creatures as possible.

I will keep it in mind, though.

I'll try Glint-Sleeve Siphoner instead of Kitesail Freebooter, but that is the only Creature I can see taking out.

Argy,
A couple thoughts (though please take these with heavy skepticism, as I haven't played Standard this season!):

  • I've played both Verdurous Gearhulk and Walking Ballista in "counters matter" decks and I generally prefer the Ballista. Gearhulk can be insane, but it's kind of meh on an empty board. Ballista fits in more places on the curve, provides value even if it's immediately removed, and makes a great Mana sink late game.
  • With 4x Aether Hub, 4x Attune with Aether, and 2x Servant of the Conduit, I think you've got plenty of fixing. I'd pass on the Evolving Wilds unless you need an extra Landfall trigger for some reason.

Draw well, StuBi!

Looks pretty solid! +1

clayperce saccing Evolving Wilds is an excellent way to trigger Revolt on Fatal Push.

I've never liked cards like Hangarback Walker and Walking Ballista, so I'm gonna hard pass on those for now. StuBi and are keeping it in mind, though. We will probably make adjustments after seeing how the deck plays.

Skysovereign, Consul Flagship is something we are also considering.

I find that, with access to both Blossoming Defense and Heroic Intervention I can guarantee at least one Creature on the field when Verdurous Gearhulk comes down.

Thanks for giving me some things to think about.

Scavenger Grounds doesn't force a shuffle. Just a heads up.

dthoreson813 apologies, some left over comments from when it was Field of Ruin.

Fixed it now.

It was just an fyi. I have since replaced 1x Evolving Wilds with 1x Field of Ruin. Just a win/win.

I like the Evolving Wilds for colour fixing, and our local meta, but I can see why replacing one with a Field of Ruin would also work. It does leave you more open to colour screw.

However, if I were you, I would more do like this:

1x Evolving Wilds
2x Field of Ruin
2x Scavenger Grounds

Walking Ballista would fit nicely in place of a couple of Aethersphere Harvesters I think, it would add a direct damage element. With Verdurous Gearhulk and Winding Constrictor on the list it would probably make Ballista a game winning strategy. I think something similar was the winner of the Ixalan constructed pro tournament the other day.

I really like this deck +1

Nah Aethersphere Harvester is AMAZING in this deck.

The amount of life gain you can amass to get yourself out of trouble, and the fact that you can block so many things, is ESSENTIAL.

It is what makes the version of work so well.

I know all about the winning Pro Tour deck.

This one heads in a slightly different direction.

Vraska, Relic Seeker does produce creatures. I would advise on a one of in this deck.

Seconded. She's just too beaver dammed good.

1) I will never add only one copy of a card to any of my decks. Must be at least two, to be relevant.

2) Which cards would you suggest removing?

3) Just because Vraska works in Sultai Energy doesn't mean she is right for this deck.

4) My local meta is EXTREMELY Aggro. Not sure if Vraska has time to hit the field before the game is over.

Convince me.

Have you considered a couple of Ifnir Deadlands as a removal-spell-in-a-pinch? Your mana seems strong enough that I doubt you'll need to pay life for a all that often. It also gives you extra fodder for Scavenger Grounds if you need it.

November 14, 2017 4:24 p.m.

Argy says... #15

Pieguy396 yup, considered it.

It is almost a must add in any deck I run that has

It doesn't work well in this deck as it reduces the amount of targets I have for Evolving Wilds and Field of Ruin.

The 1 ping doesn't seem like much, but sometimes I lose JUST to Sacred Cat.

Vraska doesn't sound like such a good idea if you're up against very many turn 5 kill decks.

I guess I'd suggest to remove a Yahenni's Expertise from the sideboard for a copy.

It's hard for me to NOT be on board with a two turn clock, use her +1 twice, it helps protect her from creatures too! Then, her ultimate has your foe at 1 life like that. Disallow is a bummer, but that's about the only thing stopping it.

Also, even as a two of "destroy target permanant and get a treasure" id say that is her most valuable role. Removal. Im all for it.

November 15, 2017 4:34 a.m.

Argy says... #17

If she was cheaper I'd be more inclined.

In my current local meta I just can't afford to be sitting on a 6CMC card.

All copies of Yahenni's Expertise need to be in my deck as they are so good against both Ramunap , and Cats. Both decks are prevalent in my meta.

dthoreson813 says... #18

Well then, I can't say that I didn't try, or that I don't agree with your decisions based on the new information.

How has this done?

November 15, 2017 9:50 p.m.

Argy says... #19

It's early days.

I'm not piloting it, so all the info I have is second hand.

It absolutely trounced Ixalan Ramunap Red tonight 2-0, but the Cats player has added fliers to his deck, which proved challenging. He also uses a lot of Ixalan's Binding and Cast Out, so we're trying Crushing Canopy in the Side, against him.

The meta has started to slow down, and I have some Vraska, Relic Seeker lying around, so I am reluctantly putting some in.

She will take the place of Verdurous Gearhulk, at the top of the curve. That is just being hit with Abrade, anyway.

We'll see how that goes.

Have you considered putting in 2 Maulfist Revolutionary's in your sideboard/deck to replace Winding Constrictor? Constrictor does have the advantage that its an passive ability while Maulfist only procs on summon and death, but depending on the deck you are facing it could be the other way around. Ive seen quite a few +1/+1 Explore/Merfolk decks and -1/-1 Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons decks that would benefit more from the Winding Constrictor than you would. But I guess it all depends on the meta at where you play.

PI3L0V3R says... #21

Im dumb, I just realized that Winding Constrictor was only for your own cards.

November 16, 2017 10:49 p.m.

Argy says... #22

PI3L0V3R no worries mate, that kind of thing happens to me all the time.

It's the CARDS that are dumb, not us!!

Just out of curiosity, which Sultai Energy deck were you trying to avoid having this deck turn into? I am curious so I can look and it for ideas, but also so that I do not recommend anything that purposefully does not want to be included.

Pabs4444 the Standar deck that won the Ixalan Pro Tour.

Not looking for suggestions for this deck. We don't currently have it in rotation for LGS play.
