I'll start by saying this is a FUN deck, and isn't going to win a PTQ or anything, but as I usally build more serious/competitive decks, I figured I'd go the other route for this one.
I Haven't seen a deck list featuring
Pyxis of Pandemonium
yet so I thought I would try my hand at building one. This is far from a finished version, and the sideboard is a complete throw together as of right now, but the shell is here for a fun deck.
As the name of the deck suggests, there are many way to bring our dudes out and back!! Let's take a look at what's in the deck and why they're here and maybe this will make more sense to you if it doesn't at first glance!
Pyxis of Pandemonium
- One of the back-bones of the deck, but I've tried to build that it isn't necessary to win with of course. We want this in our opening hand as much as possible to start exiling cards from our and our opponent's libraries. (Note: Each Pyxis exiles into their own different pile for when they are cracked!)
Whip of Erebos - Aside from the obvious lifelink bonus, which will help keep us alive some matches, this is the other back-bone card. If we don't have a
Pyxis of Pandemonium
rolling (or even if we do) this card can help bring some fatties back with ETB effects to help keep the ball rolling! Combos nicely with obzedat, ghost council also).
[[pack rat & Lotleth Troll - These are our early dudes who just so happen to let us discard cards into our graveyard for nice little bonus's which we can then whip back at the opponent. It should also be noted that Pack Rat tokens have a CMC therefore adding to our devotion for quite a few cards in this deck.
Gray Merchant of Asphodel - I love this guy, and at common he will be seeing play in other (mostly mono-black) decks I'm sure. If he gets flipped or multiple do with the Pyxis that could quite possibly end the game alongside other permanents we have.
Ashen Rider, Shadowborn Demon,
Obzedat, Ghost Council
are the fatties with solid ETB effects. They shouldn't need anymore intro then that, and if you're unaware of Ashen Rider you shouldn't be anymore!
Worldspine Wurm - He definitely wants to be flipped with the Pyxis as the whip is sorcery speed and he gets shuffled into the library anytime he hits the graveyard. So, while he's good to discard to the Troll or Rat, we won't be whipping with him.
Mogis's Marauder - This guy paired along with some pack rat tokens could easily win the game alone, now imagine flipping exiled cards with the pyxis into this and a bunch of fatties and enough devotion which will likely happen to give them all haste and intimidate, ummmmmmm.....Good game!!
Well, that is the gist of the deck, and the first version I've come up with before getting into some testing to see what works and what doesn't.
As always, comments and suggestions are welcome and if you, like me, like to "whip it" then feel free to give the deck a +1.
Thanks for stopping by, cheers!
