My favorite personal homebrew yet!

THE BASIC IDEA

your opponent loves the cards in their hand... so what!

Attack your opponent's hand using your 1 and 2 drop sorceries in Thoughtseize , Duress and Rakdos's Return until they have no hand.
Bring in Shrieking Affliction when they have 1 or less cards in hand to really pour on the hurt, and set in the control.
Kill the creatures they manage to sneak out with those 13+ removal spells.
Discard your unneeded cards to Pack Rat and attack along with Mutavault (counts as a rat :-)) for the win.

At an average CMC of ~ 2 this deck plays fast 'n dirty. My favorite personal homebrew yet! Feels so good to place TOP8 every week with a deck that makes opponents read what Shrieking Affliction does, and shocked to see 4x Duress mainboard

What else would make this idea better? What is the proper distribution of creature spot removal spells (Doom Blade vs. Devour Flesh vs Pharika's Cure vs. Ultimate Price vs Dreadbore vs. Hero's Downfall vs. insert-your-suggestion-here) ?

What is the best way to get draw power in here? Also, please view my Maybeboard when making suggestions. If you see a card in there, give your rationale for why it should make the cut, please and thank you!

After a good bit of playtesting, the only decks this has trouble with are Mono Green Ramp Devotion w/ Red, and creature heavy aggro decks (white weenie, RDW, etc). Suggestions much appreciated in how to handle these problem decks!!!

was #7th out of 32 people. Was 1 win away from taking #1st. Only loss was the guy who went #1 who played the currently successful Orzhov Control deck like mine deck:Can you Control the Ghost of a Blood Demon? (TOP8) that I almost played tonight.

Consistently finishing in the TOP8 with a homebrew deck feels so good. I've yet to see anything else like my deck being played in my area.

ROUND #1: Rakdos Aggro 2 - 1 GAME1 lost to an abundance of steady and regular creature drops in Rakdos Cackler and Spike Jester etc.
GAME2 sideboarded in the Anger of the Gods and had a much easier time.
GAME3 Shrieking Affliction took this one home rather quickly after i removed all the threats.

ROUND #2: Green Devotion w/ Red 2 - 0
GAME1 Thoughtseize took away his Boon Satyr, and Duress his Domri Rade. this ended up being a stalemate for awhile with my Master of Cruelties trading back and forth with his Bow of Nylea until i found my Pack Rat for the win. GAME2 much easier than the first with the addition of Lifebane Zombie.

ROUND #3: Azorius Control... He placed #5 tonight... 1 - 1
GAME1 was a very, very long game. I couldn't find any threats but had all the answers until his 2 Mutavault finally wore me down. GAME2 Slaughter Games took away his Sphinx's Revelation and Pithing Needle his Jace, Architect of Thought and I won very quickly. Unfortunately there was less than 3 minutes left in the round so no 3rd game. Tired of having slow GAME1's with this deck.

ROUND #4: White Weenies splash black... He placed #2 tonight... 2 - 0
GAME1 got lucky finding my 1 mainboard Anger of the Gods which took out all his creatures. Killed him with Shrieking Affliction GAME2 Lifebane Zombie destroyed him quickly.

ROUND #5: Orzhov Control... The guy who went #1... 1 - 2
GAME1 beat him with my pack rats after destroying his hand. Was surprised at how much damage he was willing to take from Underworld Connections GAME2 after mulling to 6, kept a hand with Mutavault and Mountain for lands. only other land i saw was another Mutavault which prompted me to scoop. Was silly to keep a hand with no Black mana GAME3 never saw a single answer to his 3 Blood Baron of Vizkopa !!!

1 game WIN away from taking 1st. but got #7th place instead. Had the 2nd hardest matchups on the night based on opponent win % (68.32% and my ROUND 3, 4 & 5 opponents all placed above me). I had a lot of fun, but think i need to trade for at least 1 more Mizzium Mortars.

CHANGES:

ditching: the Master of Cruelties for now, because he can't win a game by himself, and that's no good in the build for the time being. You'll be missed Mr Master. Also ditching the last Doom Blade as there is simply too much black going on in my meta. Blood Scrivener is gone too, as i never found myself top-decking the past 2 FNM's.

adding: +2 Underworld Connections +1 Devour Flesh +1 Erebos, God of the Dead
