maybe you should switch to green and add abrupt decay to deal with detention sphere, ashiok and golgari charms to give you additional options (-1/-1 to all creatures/destroy enchantment/regenerate all your creatures)

I would drop the guildgates for 2x Overgrown Tomb 2x Stomping Ground and the Doom Blade s and the Liliana of the Dark Realms for 4x Deathrite Shaman
maybe SB some Desecration Demon

I seriously think that Underworld Connections x4 is needed. It's just that good. It'll keep you ahead of your opponent.

Desecration Demon for a bit more board control. Perhaps as a sideboard card.
December 4, 2013 2:40 p.m.
I really dig the Liliana of the Dark Realms + Pack Rat combo
December 4, 2013 2:54 p.m.
Desecration Demon is a great card, and huge threat. But in playtesting it just wasn't that effective. There always seemed to be a creature to tap it down, causing some serious issues, I frequently found myself discarding it to Pack Rat . However, since it is such a powerful card, I'll give it some more consideration,
Underworld Connections also deserves some serious thought as to how it may fit into this build.
Thanks all for the wonderful suggestions!!! keep 'em coming.

Every time I playtest this, I always end up getting mana flooded. Your mana curve is so damn low, that 22 lands, might just be overkill. I know it's important to get those 3 mana quickly. But you should consider take out a single swamp for something else. Could be another Devour Flesh .

gosh golly, ive been testing all my decks againt this one and almost all have lost terribly accept for my krenko goblin spam deck, overall its really well put together with lots of cheap cards to get out early game made it really difficult for most of decks to keep up
these discards decks look so innocent until you play them :p
December 5, 2013 2:18 p.m.
I am just thinking loud: Would Blood Scrivener fit into this deck? I know, this card is not so good, but theoretically it might work with Rat Pack and with our other cheap spells. As I said, just thinking loud :).
December 5, 2013 3:34 p.m.
Blood Scrivener is a card I've thought about, as this deck is lacking draw power. However, in playtesting it seems a bit lack-luster. Really only provides the extra card when in top-deck mode, which we never really want to be in. I want to like it, but Underworld Connections or even Read the Bones might be better. Thanks for thinking out loud. Always welcoming ideas and suggestions!

Underworld Connections is my next add on to this list. I do have a question sharkudi... how the flip do you sideboard against esper?
Or how do you sideboard against Gruul monsters? Duress is a bit useless against aggro matches, although knowing what they have in hand does come in handy.

Yeah, i'm trying to figure a way to add draw power into the deck, looking for a way to make room for Underworld Connections
since it draws an insane amount of cards. Maybe find a place for Erebos, God of the Dead
mainboard.
Against Esper, I take out the much of the creature spot removal for Lifebane Zombie and Pithing Needle . also will probably side in Ratchet Bomb and Slaughter Games now that i have them in the sideboard going forward. considering adding Sire Of Insanity in the sideboard too, though we'll see as his 6 CMC is a bit too high for this deck. Maybe Erebos, God of the Dead will have a spot again, as preventing opponenets from gaining life really ruins Sphinx's Revelation and the card draw helps a lot too. I've really never had any issues against Esper so far though.
Gruul monsters, and Mono Green Devotion with red for the planeswalkers, and creature heavy decks in general do cause problems. I leave in Duress
as being able to pull out the Domri Rade
, Xenagos, The Reveler
and Garruk, Caller of Beasts
before they hit is critical for winning these match-ups, Usually side in the Pharika's Cure
to take out their mana dorks before the ramp gets outta hand, and those 2 extra life do help.
I go about 50-50 win/loss match-up for this deck against the Naya Gone and Done It and I built a RAMP to Victory. (1st @ FNM) decks in the top 8 on this site. Whereas the Mono Blue, Mono Black devotions, Esper control, R/W/B etc all are rather easy for this deck.
Again, I am always open for suggestions and constructive criticisms. Keep them coming!

after playtesting the deck a LOT... i have found that vs creature heavy decks, I need to bring in ALL the cheap removal in.
I side out the downfalls, and bring in the rest of the doom blades and devour flesh
I have some copies of Anger of the Gods somewhere... but the double mana worries me.

What would you take out to sideboard in 2 Pithing Needle and 2 Slaughter Games ?
December 6, 2013 4:34 p.m.
Played a version of this deck Shadow Ops and went 4-1 this past FNM finishing 4th. I have found the Desecration Demon invaluable after my hand destruction clears their removal. Thoughts ?

really good deck, like this a lot. In fact I think I might build it.
December 8, 2013 12:29 p.m.
fool888 I've tried it... and no :c
I've built the deck and the mutavaults are nowhere to be found (out of stock!!!)... tried with all lands and you just need that 2 damage here and there to keep the pressure on
December 8, 2013 2:29 p.m.
Cardkingdom seems the option, but I'm getting violated with the taxes :(
I still want to thank sharkudi for the deck idea, after play testing this Friday after I got destroyed in the FNM, the deck plays amazingly well vs what is played at my local store <3
Liliana is retarded good, and I have upped the amount of Ultimate Price s to 2. Hero's Downfall is nice, but I have no idea why this deck hates me and I get mana screwed so often

Did just that! I have to buy the manabase and a few cards but it lets me use those R/B cards I bought but don't ever play because I'm a G/B player.

well you're running 21 lands, 22-23 would be more consistent. Especially with spells like rakdos return which require mana investment to be effective. I would add a basic Mountain or 2.
December 8, 2013 2:44 p.m.
I run 22 lands on my version of this deck, with 1 less Doom Blade :)
