+1 - I really enjoyed playing this deck. Played in a standard Wednesday Night Magic, only three rounds since there was about 12 of us and went 3-0. Subbed a few cards, but used the majority of your deck list. Each opponent was thrown off by the type of deck I was playing, they didn't know what to expect especially with all the devotion black going around.
First round vs gruul midrange (won 2-1) - I lost one match due to not getting enough removal early and he bloodrushed me to death. Once I sided in the Lifebane Zombies, was able to keep his hand clear of his main creatures and removed whatever he played. Mutavault and Lifebane ftw.
Second Round vs Mono Blue (Won 2-0) - pretty easy, kept blue creatures off the board and cleared hand for shrieking affliction/mutavault to eat his life. 2nd game knocked down to 1 life with Master of Cruelties and hit with mutavault next turn ftw.
Final Round vs Red/White/Blue Control (Won 2-1) - lost the first game due to Assemble the Legion, couldn't destroy that enchantment. 2nd game, I sided in all the slaughter games and top decked 2 back-to-back to clear his deck of Assemble Legion and Sphinx Revelation. He had Elspeth and Jace AoT, but hero downfall and dreadbore took care of those. Sire of Insanity kept his hand empty and Shrieking Affliction/Mutavaulted ftw. 3rd game was close on time so in a rush, he made the wrong play with 10 life left, leaving no cards in hand. Swung with my two mutavaults to knock down to 6 life and on his next turn, my 2 shrieking afflictions took care of the rest.
I look forward to playing this in a bigger event for sure!

Hey sharkudi! I see that you have 1 Chandra in you mainboard. How is that? Just curious because i have one of her but at the moment i have nothing to use her for.

rsj87 so happy to hear this deck has been working for you also! Type up your deck list so I can add it here, and give it a +1.
Jantz Chandra is still in playtesting mode for now. So far, I've been a little under impressed, as her double red cost can be tricky, and her -7 ultimate is useless in the deck. Might put her in the sideboard for additional draw against control, and against those aggro decks running lots of 1 toughness creatures Boros Elite
Daring Skyjek
Soldier of the Pantheon
Dryad Militant
etc. a bit more testing and i'll know. Thinking additional draw might be a better use of that slot. Really liking Read the Bones
over Underworld Connections
too for now.

sharkudi what do you think about splashing white for a bit different aspect of the deck: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/rbw-discard-control-experiment/
Just wondering if it will work.

http://www.magicspoiler.com/mtg-spoiler/pain-seer/ this. Just this! One card every turn, and with cmc of this deck near 2 - this is brilliant!

Fizzz no i didn't get a chance to make it this week, but in playtesting i think Chandra, Pyromaster will be at best, in the sideboard, and I think i need to add Drainpipe Vermin back in for the additional discard, protection against aggro, and potential to do some early damage. Excited to see how your new build with burn does for you!!
Jantz have been tempted to go either green, or white espicially for Sin Collector i'll have to do some testing with a white build. Good idea.
Szmitek yes that card, and http://www.magicspoiler.com/mtg-spoiler/ashioks-adept/ might have some potential. Also really excited about getting Temple of Malice !

sharkudi check out my version of your deck Jund: Discard & Destroywith a splash of green. I've only done a bit of testing but it seems to be doing well so far, even without side boarding.
I definitely feel like Sire Of Insanity was needed to make sure their hand stays gone and green helps with that
Any feedback and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I guess Mogis could also get in handy, even though we will never get enough devotion - 2 dmg or creature sac - nice vs controll:P

i finally added my deck list as well if you wanted to check it out.

What do you guys think of Drown in Sorrow and Bile Blight?
January 16, 2014 2:32 a.m.
So I've been playing with this deck, and how do you stay ahead of their draw cards? i feel like a lot of other decks have some way to draw cards, and/or/ gain life, which this deck is also somewhat lacking. What are your thoughts on this and ideas on ways to play to avoid this?
January 16, 2014 5:33 a.m.
rsj87 i get this message when trying to view your profile and deck link... "This user is no longer interested in interacting with you. Any efforts you make to communicate with this user through this site can lead to a permanent ban. If enough users block you, you will be removed from this site"
i'm excited for Mogis, that card alone might make me switch up this deck idea a lot. Bile blight is going to be fantastic, and Drown in Sorrow might be a nice alternative to Anger of the Gods . We'll have to wait and see what else the set has in store for us.
in terms of draw power, I've been constantly toying with adding Read the Bones
and Underworld Connections
but have trouble finding the right spot for them. the heavy discard with Rakdos's Return
and Liliana of the Dark Realms
both help with card advantage, and Erebos, God of the Dead
coming out of the sideboard helps too.
Thanks for all the suggestions and comments!

Drown in Sorrow is going to be amazing, allowing us to lose the additional mountains for the Anger of the Gods .
I cry when my starting hand is 1 mutavault and 2 mountains -_-
January 16, 2014 2:13 p.m.
So you don't really deal with life gain, but i feel like erebos is worse than underworlds just because you have to pay even more life to get a card, and mana. And have you ever thought about using the whip?
January 16, 2014 4:34 p.m.
yeah, not really. might try to make room for a Crypt Incursion
or 2, but the whip is not overly useful in here. Pack Rat
and Mutavault
aren't really worth it IMO. Shrieking Affliction
and Rakdos's Return
do most of the damage in here. Erebos, God of the Dead
is great against control.

So, any Born of the Gods cards you might throw in here (or sideboard)? I would think Mogis, God of Slaughter would fit perfectly in here, since you have a bunch of removal.
Oh and dat rakdos scry land tho.
January 19, 2014 9:06 a.m.
I believe its because of the Liliana's Reaver discard ability...

Great Deck! +1 From Me
It would be awesome if you would check out my elf deck Mono Green Elf Deck and see if you could give me any suggestions. I would love input from smart mtg players.

sharkudi I was at my local FNM last Friday and we played modern and I didn't know that so all I brought was my version of this deck which is pretty much the same as yours. So decided just to play with it. My first match up was against a $1,000+ Pod deck.
He did the one combo to get like 9000 life. I kept playing the best I could though taking about his combos with some effect with all the removal and trying to get his hand down to zero. I had one Affliction in but it really didn't matter with all the life.
But cleared his board of no creatures and he was only drawing land.
had Rakdos's Return in hand and drew a Master of Cruelties. I only had one in the deck! Got it out and he drew another land. Master of Cruelties attack is successful. Brings him from 9000 life down to one end turn and Shrieking affliction kills him!
Needless to say was so pumped and we had a crowd around us. Was an awesome thing. Thought I would share with you!
TLDR: Beat a $1,000 Pod deck with this bad boy
January 24, 2014 11:29 a.m.
Desecration Demon is no doubt a powerhouse, but just isn't reliable in combat everyturn. have had too many times where i need to block or attack for the win, or die next turn, and the demon just doesn't allow for that.
zonolite so cool!! thanks for sharing!! pretty sure this deck will be seeing changes once BotG releases. Master of Cruelties + Mogis, God of Slaughter in addition to Shrieking Affliction is gonna get nasty.
January 24, 2014 12:06 p.m.
Could you please update the deck, it doesn't appear to have been updated with the new BotG cards. If you have updated it, my apologies. Either way, great deck!

Hey, I was thinking about running a version of this on Friday. What are your sideboard strategies for aggro, mbd, and control?
February 20, 2014 12:38 a.m.
updated for Born of the Gods. Really only made room for Bile Blight . Haven't really been playing this deck much recently, as I've been mostly playing these 2 decks -Can you Control the Ghost of a Blood Demon? (TOP8) and Involuntary Man-Slaughter (not a felony for Mogis)
@kendallizer : I run the 3rd Anger of the Gods against aggro, and Lifebane Zombie too if its green or white usually subbing out the Duress . . against MBD i only add Slaughter Games to take out gary and Nigthtveil. against control i take out the Shrieking Affliction and take out all removal but Hero's Downfall to add Erebos, God of the Dead , Pithing Needle , and Slaughter Games
Thanks for all the upvotes and suggestions! Keep them Coming!

Hey sharkudi! I have now made a deck like this! Almost the same as yours. For the creatures, i am running 4x Pack Rat and 2 Master of Cruelties and that works great for me. I've found that i need more card drawing than the two Underworld Connections that i run. I just don't know what to remove to fit one or two more in there? What do you say? I've also found out that having two Anger of the Gods really helps out instead of only spot removal. The only problem about that card, is the double red :/Great deck sharkudi, i'll be testing it out at a standard tournament next week! For now i have only playtested against my friends and i have to say, it works really great!
