Sideboard

I really like this deck. I made it without looking at others online. Hero's Downfall is probably better than Murderous Cut but I am trying this for budget reasons. I think enough cards from discard spells and Black Cats/Maggots dying create enough GY cards for Murderous Cut to cost less than 3 CMC.

The combo is apparent. Spiteful Returned on a Master of Feast creates a 6/6 flier on Turn 4 who also does 2 additional damage when attacking.

Black Cats add the hesitation factor of the enemy not wanting to swing with their lower CMC creatures to avoid losing that combo card by random discard.

Brain Maggot is great for spot temporary exile of one of their cards that could potentially mess you up.

Duress and Despise are nice card removal spells that can take out certain cards. They also are needed when Master of Feasts gives your opponent additional draw but you want to be swinging with the fatties ASAP.

Mind Rot is nice to forcing your opponent to decide which cards he thinks is less valuable to him and hope he has to discard really good cards.

Read the Bones and Sign in Blood give you a better chance of getting necessary cards if the draw pile begins to look unfavorable.

I added Waste Not because with all the discard it is nice to get chump blockers, mana or card draw.

Any suggestions are welcome. As I said I am not sure if this is popular with Standard atm because I havent played in a long time.

Updates Add

Ok Origins Pro Tour is over and Red Mages are excited. Artificers are excited as well. Well, I had to figure out a way to beat these Red Mages and Artificers this Friday. So I have made a few changes to the deck list.

I added 3 Languish because it is an extremely nice wipe card for us. Since we don't care if there is 3 Black Cats out there and our Masters are 5/5s. (Swing before casting Languish in case of a burn spell)

I added Ultimate Price to main deck to help kill those Abbots and Lightning Beserkers. Reduced Murderous Cut to 2 cards as mid-late game it is only going to cost us 1 mana to kill a creature.

I changed quantities of Sign in Blood since 2 life lost is dangerous against the Fire Mages. I added Thoughtseize to sideboard. It probably makes this deck extremely better but for budget reasons I wanna beat them without it. You should add 4 of them in place of Brain Maggots for effective removal.

The deck still can have issues with Master of the Feast giving that Red Mage a burn spell. I need to find a viable replacement that won't let that Red Mage get card advantage. (Maybe Erebos's Titan?)

Removals are important against these hopeful Red Mages. Despise to remove Abbot of Keral Keep or Lightning Beserker. Duress to take away their Exquisite Firecrafts, Lightning Strikes and Stoke the Flames. This Fire Mage deck that won the Pro Tour had no draw card ability other than Abbot helping him.

Object is to get rid of as many of that Red Mages (or other mages) cards so he has to top deck a spell each turn. The idea to beat these fire mages is to outlast them. I will be very curious to see what is played this Friday (Betting on Fire Mages)
