Basic Ideology

This deck is supposed to be the most consistant burn deck possible. It is comprised of four types of cards. First, are the cyclers. If you look at a burn deck and think of the upgrades you could make if you cut cards, it would be hard. Most of the cards are just as good as each-other. Some are fast, and some grind out value in the late game. However, if the late-game cards are cut, the deck becomes a speedy powerhouse. This deck uses cards that cycle for free to play what is essentially a 46 card deck. With only 30 nonland cards to build a deck with, the power and speed are out the roof. Turn three kills are routine for this deck. Turn four kills are average. Although this deck doesn't run better burn spells than burn, the deck is faster, and doesn't give your opponent time to react.

This deck is all in, and is much faster than other burn strategies, although it is faster, it is much more vulnerable to disruption. If you want to play a fast list, with super consistent turn 3 and 4 kills, this is for you. If you want to see turn 1 Inquisition of Kozilek, or Thoughtseize, this list is too agressive.

This deck is fast. Really fast. Although you pay pay 8 life on turn 1, You can still outrace most decks. Your opponents don't always get to turn 4. You know the saying, "Modern is a turn 4 format"? Well, turn 3 kills are better.

This deck is easy to pilot Most lines of play are obvious. Just as a few tips, Make sure your opening hand has a creature, or enough cyclers to find you one. Creatures are vital for a quick kill. Remember to cycle Street Wraith before your other cyclers, because if you draw a Monastery Swiftspear, you want prowess triggers.

Card Choices

  • Goblin Guide: 1 mana for a 2/2 with haste! This card is an auto include in all burn lists.
  • Monastery Swiftspear: It is the most efficient source of damage in the deck. It can easily deal 4 damage in one turn. This is another auto include.
  • Wild Nacatl : An efficient creature, this is a a great aggresive threat, and is bigger than most other things
  • Street Wraith: 2 life for a card is a tradeoff worth making. It's also great against Living End
  • Gitaxian Probe: 2 life for a card and a look at their hand is worth it.
  • Manamorphose: This is the worst cantrip in the deck, but it works. It also helps fix mana when you want to fetch a Sacred Foundry for Wild Nacatl , but need the green.
  • Mishra's Bauble: 0 mana for a look at the next card they draw, and a delayed card is playable in this deck. If you want to, cut it for lands and more burn spells.

Matchups

This match isn't as bad as you would think. Although this list pays lots of life through Street Wraith, Gitaxian Probe, and the mana-base, out-racing burn is possible, and common.

Side in:
4x Searing Blaze
4x Dragon's Claw
2x Destructive Revelry (If they are playing Dragon's Claw or Leyline of Sanctity).
Side out:
4x Goblin Guide
4x Rift Bolt
0-1x Monastery Swiftspear
0-1x Become Immense

This is a great matchup. You can outrace the combo, board in Destructive Revelry, and they can't do much about it. They are far too slow.
Sideboard
Board in:

  • 1x Rending Volley
  • Board out:

  • 1x Atarka's Command
  • This matchup is okay. We don't like disruption in the form of Inquisition of Kozilek, but we can out-race. Even if we are in topdeck mode, we have a 2/3 chance of drawing another bolt.

This match is insane. They don't have much to do until they hit tron, and even if they do, we can burn them out. This matchup is one of the best

This is one of the best, if not the best matchup. They can't do anything until turn three, and even if they can Living End on turn three, they have probably taken so much damage that they are dead. Watch out for Fulminator Mage and after sideboard, hold up Atarka's Command to prevent that pesky life gain. One more note: Your Street Wraiths get reanimated by Living End. I have won a game with an unblockable Street Wraith

In this match, you want to race. A lot of the time, they put down 4 chump blockers, and your creatures are not effective. You can still out-race, because you are usually faster, but it is harder.
