My only question tho, will using cards like Desperate Ritual or Rite of Flame actually hinder this deck? I suppose T2 Assault would be good nonetheless, and then a potential T3 Swans? Or perhaps even Lotus Bloom ? I only ask for any methods of deploying the combo a turn or two earlier, you would know better than I.

Hey Weird_Frisbee! Haha glad you like it! Yeah ramp would be good, but the problem is that for Seismic and Swans you would have to have some form of ramp twice, requiring extra nonlands.

The deck is all-in combo, but can actually play out in a grindy midrangy way, so cards like Anger of the Gods and Trade Routes can be really huge when you either don’t draw the combo or it gets disrupted. Adding addition nonlands for ramp would be really tight, because the deck just needs the lands to work haha.

But it is definitely a blast to play.

I had a deck similar to this that was 55 lands, 1 seismic assault, and 4 treasure hunts. I like this version way better.

Just showed the list to a friend of mine who is new to the format and he decided to build it. Are you still playing this deck after MH2 and have you updated the list at all since?

dreamxatlantic, yes actually and it is surprisingly better positioned after MH2 than before. It doesn’t rely on the graveyard, and it has easy ways to deal with those stupid Monkeys. Modern is also a little slower rn, so that helps. I haven’t done a league online but I win the good majority of the practice tournament games I play.

zapyourtumor well the typical fast combo decks aren’t really played anymore, that’s what I mean. Most decks have disruption and/or counters, then a more Grundy game plan.

I guess fast combo has given way to faster aggro true

Lowenstein I know you can only have so many slots available since you need a certain density of lands and spells, but have you considered playing white for Solitary Confinement ? Since the format has a lot of aggro, I feel like it would be easy for us to slam a Solitary, untap, discard a land and then go about our day after casting Treasure Hunt

That's pretty interesting, but Solitary confinement basically says "discard a card each turn to not lose the game" while Seismic Assault is sort of the same thing "discard a bunch of cards to kill every creature your opponent plays"

That’s an interesting idea, and that could possibly be better in a slightly different build of the deck. Unfortunately I think it wouldn’t help us to win, and Treasure Hunt is very unreliable honestly haha.

The good thing is that Seismic Assault and Molten Vortex are pretty good at dealing with most creatures.

That's fair. I was playing it on MTGO last night in some two mans with the white splash and it didn't really ever feel necessary. Something I was trying out and I think might be pretty good is replacing the Bolt in the main with a Magmatic Sinkhole . Sometimes it's a draw 5 and the main reason I put it in was because I was jamming some games with a friend who plays mill, and I was having a problem getting my Seismic Assaults Surgical'd. Although this is mostly a game 1 problem (I have some sb relics in my list), it seemed to be worth considering with how popular mill actually is.

dreamxatlantic that’s definitely a good consideration. Mill is rough lol, so hopefully the Leylines and Day’s Undoing might help there.

Bolt I mainly run bc of small creatures that are a must-kill, like Glistener Elf, Hammer time creatures, Monkeys, stuff like that.
