Dunno if you've heard this yet, but I really like the new Magmatic Insight in this deck. I also think a 4-1 split between Assault and Molten Vortex could do some good, go you don't rely on getting a single card as much.

I think the problem with Magmatic Insight is that it just helps you dig, not actually combo. Molten Vortex seems more promising, but mana to activate means it takes a long time to combo, so it's better to just dig until you hit Assault.

Have you thought of Desolate Lighthouse? You can use it to dig for the combo and its also a land.

Having great results with my new SB tech: 4 Countryside Crusher + 3 Fling
They'll probably side-in Enchantment hate and Leyline of Sanctity to shutdown your combo, so this tech is perfect: you come from a creatureless MB and go G2 with a Creature kill.
So G1 surprises the oponent, G2 Still surprises the oponent and if there's a G3 it confuses the oponent for his own SB-tech ! Hilarious to see ! xD

Marenkai: But Fling still fails against Leyline of Sanctity and Countryside Crusher doesn't have trample and can wind up milling you out if it sticks around too long. How do you win if their board isn't clear?

Fatal Frenzy is a good shot here.
But the Izzet version of this deck lacks something the Gruul or Temur version has: Rancor.
This is still a good SB-tech but this deck severely suffers from the "Rogue Combo Deck Syndrome": too many cards are needed on board and none can enter at instant speed making it weak post-side when the surprise effect is gone.

Oh and I'm also throwing in one or two Day's Undoing to reset the mill counter and the land count.

Rancor is actually pretty awful with Countryside Crusher. At least with Fatal Frenzy, you can give your dude trample after they declare blockers. Rancor doesn't really do anything useful, and the power boost is negligible.

just play elden24 version of this deck its millions of times better this deck is bad because there are too many lands that enter the batttlefeild tapped what madder what so when i play tested it i got seismic asult out on turn 6 and buy then you would have already lost and next turn i played treasure hunt and didn't draw enough lands but i had no cards in deck

How did you get it out turn 6? That's ridiculous. You had like the worst draws. All you need by turn 3 is one land that doesn't enter tapped. The deck actually isn't terrible, I have never had that problem before, and I have played way more games with it than you have.

And at least my deck can survive a lightning bolt or a fizzle to a treasure hunt

There's approximately a 99.94% chance that you can play untapped lands on T3 and T4. It seems to me that you don't really know what you're doing.

Just my thoughts, but Mystic Monastery could also be used to cast the swans with white mana. And I wanted to know what do you think of lands like Izzet Boilerworks that could return a land to your hand. Even if technically you have one land in hand in both cases, but one on the field that gives 2 colored mana.
I like the concept of the deck, but it seems a little pricey. I'm looking for a more budget version. Especially that the only cards that worth some some money are lands.

The problem with Izzet Boilerworks is that you never want it. It never casts T3 Assault, and T4 Swans without Assault is useless.
For budget: take out the full-arts, take out foils, and replace shocks/Sulfur Falls with basics/trilands if you want. That makes it pretty cheap.

I think the only way to get through leyline is to change the combo post side and to use the Zombie Infestation + Treasure Hunt combo.
Or to mill out your opponent with: Sphinx's Tutelage.
It's the only solid ideas I could come to think about.

I would like to point out that you techniaclly don't draw cards off of Sphinx's Tutelage, it reveals the cards and puts them into hand.

ok, so i have decided to buy and tweak this type of deck a while ago. i had zero budget, so i am guessing the version i made is maximized to it's best capacity for my meta. i have been testing, and i only play at my lgs about twice a month. i have had decent results, not anything too special, but i have top 8ed more than once. but i think my list is at it's best for right now. i have been fixing the numbers for a while, and i have gotten compliments. my lgs has about 40 people at fnm, and blood moon is common, here it is:

Mana Severance? Jk lol. +1 from me because it made this one asshole who plays aggro cry when I beat him for top spot.

honestly, i am not sure if i would list the swans archetype under the competitive hub

@bah-bammmm it actually is. It has won my FNM 3 times and some guy a few years ago won Idaho state with a version of it. I mean it's a turn 4 win ;)

I disagree. A lot of "states championships" were pretty small tournaments. Winning a small fnm with it says little to nothing. You could win if all your opponents mull to zero in a small 3 round tourmament. Even the pilot who won the states tournament admitted the deck itself was awful.

I have bought the deck online, it cost less than $10 (which includes the 5 free tix) with a cheaper mana base.
I've had a few games and it has won all of the games I played.
