i really like the fact that (apart from Virulent Swipe they are all from the Scar of Mirrodin block. What artifacts do you discard for Throne of Geth ?

January 23, 2013 9:14 p.m.

Throne of Geth is in there as a finisher if i need it. I would sac Livewire Lash to it if i have to but mostly i sac to itself to get that last poison counter. I have to say that Scars of Mirrodin block is by far my favorite! Thanks for looking!

I've found many things that I can suggest to you, from a deck similar to this one. 1.)Lashwrithe is absolutely amazing.

2.) Throne of Geth doesn't make too much of an impact, but if you like it and want to keep it, just sac it to itself.

3.)Hand of the Praetors can also have an amazing impact on games.Hope I can help!

That actually does help because I have been contemplating switching out Phyrexian Vatmother with Hand of the Praetors . Throne of Geth has won me several games but I definitely like Lashwrithe a lot more. I will make the changes and do some playtesting. Thanks again.

That's funny because I also have an infect deck that I play modern with. Infect

Though mine is mono green instead of black. You might want to think about Ichorclaw Myr . It has been a great card for me in the past. With a Rancor on it, it turns into a 5/3 when it's blocked.

May 7, 2013 8:53 p.m.

i had him in the original build and after i looked at your deck i think i'm going to add him back... thanks!

I'm looking at some Infect decks for ideas and I gotta say that this one is clearly the strongest, most consistent, balanced out there. Awesome job, can't wait to get the budget to try it! +1

Thank you!! It took a lot of testing to get it right but this deck is great, is rarely loses and it's a consistent turn 3-4 win.

This deck is absolutely stellar! I didn't recreate it exactly, but a budget version of it just to test against some buddies of mine and it performed admirably. The only change I distinctly made was Predator's Gambit in place of Virulent Swipe to squeeze some more potential avoidence in there. Phyrexian Crusader gives this deck survivability if the game caries on longer than anticipated and just an awesome card in general.

This is a really great deck, methinks.

Thanks, good recomendation. The reason I prefer Virulent Swipe is because of the rebound and the artwork:) as you can see I had Predator's Gambit in the maybeboard because it fits in so well. Thanks for the +1!!

i also have a green/black infect, and i have consiered both Whispering Specter and Groundswell quite worth of it, did you leave them out on purpose?

September 10, 2013 11:12 a.m.

Whispering Specter is 3 cmc and i am going for the lowest curve possible and Groundswell barely missed the cut, playtesting with Groundswell I was not able to play a land every turn so I found it less useful than Virulent Swipe , you still get +4 but it is spread between 2 turns and gives deathtouch so people are less likely to block it but if they do... deathtouch.

Thank you for the advice, another question, as theros just cames out, i was considering also Boon of Erebos and Read the Bones , the boon may be good for attacking/blocking while in disadvantage, because every time i play my deck i run short on creatures if the game goes on or the opponent has control, while Read the Bones it's true that it costs 3 and 2 life, but this should improve your chances of making some good draws if you don't start with a good hand. what do you think?

September 26, 2013 5:53 p.m.

dragombra says... #15

Even though now that i think about it the Apostle's Blessing works way better than the boon, and i can't edit my previous comment anymore

September 26, 2013 5:56 p.m.

No on boon it just doesn't fit well, I actually sideboard in Undying Evil if my opponent keeps killing my creatures because they come back right away and it will do 2 infect if they are equipped with Livewire Lash . Read the Bones is a great card but there are already so many cards in here that take life and with such a low mana base I would rather play Gitaxian Probe . :)

If you don't mind me asking what is 12 post

December 15, 2013 5:12 p.m.

@Neuski94 all it means is that there are 12 or more comments on the deck and for some reason a couple of my decks it was added on automatically and they don't have 12 posts... like this deck, until now.

@dragombra realised how good Boon of Erebos was and swapped undying evil for it. I've been using it in my standard deck and just saw that you recommended it a while back. Thanks man.

How about adding Melira, Sylvok Outcast and Blowfly Infestation , then you can watch your -1 counters go flying around the board killing everything in their wake?

It's worked well for me in my Golgari deck, Severe Atrophy, if you wanted to check it out?

But why Auger Spree, exactly? I don't quite get your reasoning for the card... If it's for removal, black has plenty better removal, if it's for pump, it can kill your weenies or make them boltable, which isn't good. Just wondering why it would be good enough to add another color. :)

August 12, 2015 6:12 p.m.

@BobTheSlobbb: There are several reasons I'm trying to run Auger Spree and the main one is because it's instant speed removal or game winning combat trick if Wild Defiance is out. Also the art is awesome. :)

If I do add it I would

-1 Swamp

-1 Forest

+1 Wooded Foothills

+1 Stomping Ground

I stil feel like there are probably better options for removal, seeing as you run black. Things like Doom Blade, Go for the Throat, and Dismember (Which you have) are all easy to cast with only in the pool. :)

As far as game-winning combat tricks with Wild Defiance, the funniest one would probably be Become Immense for the one-shot. ;)

Personally I'd cut a land and trade out some of your basics for more fetches. Thoughtseize over duress sb. I'd cut all but 2-3 basics and only run 2-3 shocks to jam as many as 9 fetches in here you wanna hit that become immense as soon as possible. Even though you don't run blue g probes are badass it is super advantageous to know what your opponent has in hand. I understand Golgari wants to run some hate to control the board and is more of a tempo game but I think with 21 lands groundswell is an easy pick up especially if you go up to 8-9 fetches.

Bosejiu doesn't belong in an infect sideboard. It only makes Apostle's Blessing, Become Immense, and Dismember uncounterable, comes in tapped, not really meant for infect. I would suggest simply adding another copy of Nature's Claim.
