The player I've been codesigning decks with is currently trying Underworld Connections in his variant of this build. Personally, I'm not impressed with it because targeted LD is relatively prevalent. He's desperately trying to make it work with Seedborn Muse and Deserted Temple , but I don't think he's had any luck with it, yet.

What do you think of Cyclonic Rift over Evacuation ? Ya it costs 2 more to play for the overload cost, but its one less blue mana to use and it removes everything but lands from the opponents fields

I currently have Cyclonic Rift in the deck in Evacuation 's slot; I guess I never updated the decklist. I've been impressed with it so far because it can be a 2-mana removal spell and wins the game if you overload it at the right time. I swept up all my opponents' mana rocks and utility creatures at EoT in a playtest game and initiated my combo the next turn.

No worries man. I've been a fan of it too. Every time I've playtested it, it always ends really badly for my opponents if they don't have an answer to it.

If you have Boseiju, Who Shelters All in play, you can really obliterate any chance of anyone interrupting your combo. I personally like it.

Any other thoughts on swapping card:Nature's Claim in for Krosan Grip ?

How often is the split second on the Krosan Grip really needed? In theory you could use the Split second to disrupt a combo because it would eliminate the stack from being used and they might have to wait a turn before they could redo it, and it might make it harder depending on what you hit.Otherwise the low CMC of card:Nature's Claim make it ideal for spot removal and stopping early game moment (thinking of god hands like: Land into Sol Ring into Mana Crypt into a turn one Thran Dynamo ) but that's a one and a million chance.

keep Krosan Grip , it is really useful. have you thought about Brainstorm , one of my favorite draw cards.

October 13, 2012 9:11 p.m.

Brainstorm isn't really that good in my opinion. It's nice when it interacts with the fetchlands and other shuffle effects, but I have Scroll Rack as a reusable counterpart to Brainstorm .

Krosan Grip is certainly useful, but I'm wondering if it isn't better to have a 1-drop removal spell and leave the rest of my mana open for countermagic.

kyoukitenshi says... #11

The countermagic might be more important than the Spilt-Second on Krosan Grip and the 4 life isn't going to make a difference when you combo. Might as well drop the Grip for the card:Nature's Claim.

Nature's claim over the grip. Made the change in my EDH Control and don't regret it.

I have one question. What would you do if you lost Deadeye Navigator ? When I say "if you lost Deadeye" I mean if he was banned from the format. I feel Primeval Titan was banned because of silly blink with Deadeye. Granted Prime Time was game changing with certain lands, but it just seems to me Deadeye is a really bad way to go when the entire deck depends on one creature that isn't your general. I understand of course the whole you have eternal witness and stuff but still. Seems to me the deck would fall apart without Deadeye.

I don't think I have ever seen anyone soulbond a Deadeye Navigator to a Primeval Titan , not to say it didn't happen, I've just never seen it.

Banning Deadeye is much less likely than the banning of Primeval Titan, who can simply by resolving be a win.

October 14, 2012 11:41 p.m.

Deadeye Navigator didn't really have anything to do with the banning of Primeval Titan ; the RC argued that PT was too game-warping. Their contention is that whenever a PT enters the battlefield, the game revolves around killing, stealing, or copying it. That is factually inaccurate, but they make the calls. The format needs PT to make more utility lands playable.

Deadeye Navigator isn't the core of the deck. Although it does allow some strong interactions, including an infinite mana combo with Palinchron , it's not my only engine. Palinchron still goes infinite with Phantasmal Image . I also had an opponent play Heartbeat of Spring , which I instantly punished by using card:Alchemist's Refuge to flashcast Palinchron and combo in his face during his main phase.

Aside from that, there are noninfinite win conditions in the deck that focus around recurring Time Stretch . Deadeye Navigator isn't essential to these approaches, but it makes the task much easier.

I've been looking at this deck for the past month. I love it, I wish I can give it a +10! I am considering changing my Mimeoplasm to Damia. Will you please take a look at my EDH decks I have on my profile when you get a chance? I play competitive 1v1 EDH and any advice would be much appreciated.

October 15, 2012 4:50 a.m.

@Sioum: I left a comment on your deck. You should note that Damia and Mimeoplasm have different strengths, and changing your general should naturally result in a change in your deck's focus. As you can see here, Damia is best suited to a general combo-control approach where she can support the deck without being necessary in every game. The Mimeoplasm is kind of central to a reanimator strategy, even with other supporting cards that do the same job. Just something to keep in mind.

Do you run Tolaria West only as a fast fetch for Pact of Negation ? I see no other 0 CMC cards in here that you can Transmute for. If not, why not just use a different land?

October 15, 2012 11:12 p.m.

miracleHat says... #20

unless i am mistaken, Tolaria West searches for lands.

October 15, 2012 11:14 p.m.

Hirunoko says... #21

Tolaria West CAN search for pact, since Pact's CMC is indeed zero, however, it is (in my experience) used more to search for lands, than for other cards.

October 15, 2012 11:31 p.m.

Ah! Didn't even think about that one, now I see why it's in here! Thanks, everyone.

October 15, 2012 11:42 p.m.

I typically use Tolaria West to find either Boseiju, Who Shelters All or Pact of Negation , depending on the situation. The former is better when I need to continue to resolve multiple tutors/other spells to achieve victory over several turns, and the latter is better when I intend to win immediately. I wish it didn't ETB tapped, though.

Out of curiosity why do you run Hinder over Spell Crumple ?
