Isochron Scepter can actually be used for ten of the cards.

@kspitery: It's more than that by now, considering all the foils and foreign/special printings. I also don't think the figure on the site properly tallies some of the more expensive staples. It's worth the price, though.

@m12foxYou mean seven cards. And it isn't really great with two of them.

With Mana Web , the opponent can react to the trigger correct? So is the combo with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth to force an opponent whether they want to cast spells on their turn or someone else's turn?

They can respond yes, but it makes them think real hard before trying to counter your spells.

Maxread says... #5

So it forces them to do one of the following: tap out to counter, tap out to play a spell, tap out to activate an ability that requires mana. Correct or am I still missing something?

You got it. Whenever they want to do anything it is an all or nothing proposition for their lands.

@Maxread: Yep. Mana Web is great against control decks, but hardly anyone seems to know about it. I think it's worth the slot just because I haven't lost a game during which I resolved it. The anti-control capability is quite useful in competitive metas.

Especially if you're playing a combo deck. Great addition!

Especially when everyone is saving their Counterspell s for the combo player at the table. (Played a table with a Shroom deck and no one cared what the Olivia player played, they just care about the Shroom.)

I am unfamiliar with the term "Shroom Deck", what is that? Sorry, I don't play competitive EDH

Hey,

Can you tell me how Necropotence works properly? I was debating of using it in my zombie deck. I see a lot of debate on forums using it in EDH in general. I was wondering if someone could go over when it is useful to use in EDH and why. Also, if you guys don't mind on commenting on my Rakdos EDH deck I would be grateful. Thank you!

Necropotence is a great draw engine in EDH. It guarantees you have as many cards as you need, and it gets ridiculous with Reliquary Tower . I would only recommend using it in a deck that can consistently support its cost, though, since not all players know how to properly pay for it and apply it in-game.

How 'bout Reanimate ? It can be used to steal an opp. key creature that is in the graveyard.

Like reanimating Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir , boom!

November 17, 2012 11:07 p.m.

While Reanimate is certainly a good card, it doesn't really play to my strategy and it's only conditionally applicable. The games I play rarely see powerful or useful creatures in the yard.

Uhmm, ok.

How often do you win with Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir on the field? Is Damia, Sage of Stone really that effective with all those draw engines?

November 18, 2012 8:12 a.m.

I don't think I've ever resolved Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir and lost. It locks opponents out and prevents them from dealing with my combos. I don't play it every game, but it's always useful.

Damia is still relevant. It's an extra draw engine, and I won't always see all my other draw effects in a game. Besides, she's the best BUG general. The other ones aren't really relevant to my deck at all.

Have you considered the inclusion of Thragtusk for the life gain to offset the life loss of Phyrexian Arena , and Necropotence ? It also provides another win-con if you generate enough bodies.

November 18, 2012 2:48 p.m.

Thragtusk is not really useful in this kind of deck; the lifegain isn't really necessary because life totals start at 40. Plus, I don't run creatures as beaters. They are only for utility - combat damage is something that is rarely relevant.

Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir + Mana Web seems like an annoying combo to play against: forcing them to play only one spell per turn, on their turn.

November 18, 2012 5:21 p.m.

@Maxread: They can still float the mana in response to Mana Web 's ability, but it does essentially limit them to one main phase per turn.

So, do you use tutors to search Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir ? In my experience, 4 players searched for their own Teferi, including me, and I won, because my Teferi survived the clash. Haha, that was the time I realized that I need Teferi before I combo with Caged Sun /Deadeye Navigator + Palinchron (Mono Blue Thada Adel).

I've seen decks like yours, but uses Reaper King as his general.

this deck is expensive as fuck, i mean really, over 1300 bucks? for a casual format?

November 19, 2012 3:15 p.m.

@eros123eros: I do when it's necessary. I love using Mystical Teachings to find Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir for an EOT flash, then using it again on my turn to find a wincon.

@theonyc: EDH isn't a casual format when I play it. I play for money and prizes.

what prizes do you get, like a promo Mana Crypt ?
